Is evetech good or shady?

Local warranty may also mean that the product is purchased regionally (in this case, local). Meaning that the seller will engage with the local distribution channel when a return is submitted. You know, RMA.

"May also", "may very well" - dude, you sound like Zuma giving evidence at the Zondo enquiry.

Like I said, impress me and we can end this debate.

When ever someone clarifies how warranty works those who feel abused think it must be to defend a company. Just because a company didn't give you good service doesn't mean you shouldn't understand the terms and conditions.

Evetech had made it VERY clear that they want their customers to deal directly with the manufacturer and carry ALL the extra costs. Specially when it comes to notebooks they don't handle the warranty at all anymore. In the past they used to give a SERVICE where they will handle it in your behalf. They don't HAVE to do it besides the bare minimum that is required according to the little bit of customer protection we have. But they USED to do it to give good customer service, in the past. This is not important to them anymore. Having what seem to be low prices means no matter what service they give, customers will still come back. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you understand terms and how warranties work. You will not find Good Customer service in those terms, that is something your earn through reputation.

Shady. Owned by some paki/muslim guys who gave me a hassle when trying to return a broken HDD that came DoA.

Arrived like that, means packaging was rubbish. I have lots of pcs, never ended up looking like that.
Courier probably decided it is best if the PC goes under the couch. .....

What did Evetech say? They gave you a full refund or replacement swiftly and without issue right?

(P.S. I hope for you sake you took the extra courier insurance that is optional on checkout).....

Keep us updated on how the issue was handled. A broken parcel damaged by the couriers is nothing new, I am more interested in how Evetech handled the issue and how quick.

If you piece together the bits of the story from the reviews left by the customer on Facebook and Google Reviews, this is the second time the PC has arrived damaged. Today's edit of the review also clarifies that:

I have always heard only good things about Evetech but my own experience was terrible. Initially everything was fine, I had a great sales consultant called Dane helping me. I got good advice and decently speedy responses to emails. However after the initial week and a half of waiting I received a extremely damaged pc. The GPU was shipped inside the tower and had clearly been slamming into the motherboard while in transit with Aramex. The power supply had ripped the metal of the case and bent other parts significantly. I had to return the pc and this is where my experience changed. First I was assured that my pc would be marked as urgent and i would receive it as soon as the technical support team has done an investigation. I returned the pc on a Thursday and they acknowledged that they received it the next Monday. I emailed and phoned only to be told my pc is in the back of the queue and will only be looked at the Friday. All of this would be reasonable if i was informed about anything, I have to email/phone every day to get any form of progress made or information communicated. They do not show any remorse for my bad service received and have done nothing to ensure I remain a customer in the future. This was truly a disappointing experience.

I Have just received my order for the second time. Ive attached some photos of the quality you can expect from Evetech. The first time was not better. 0 Star performance

And that is why people are gatvol of Evetech. If this review is anything to go by, those who said Evetech improved their after sales were talking rubbish.

Sort Google Reviews by most recent and you'll find it from about four hours ago. I saw the original a day or two ago which is how I know which part is new.

Based on the experiences in this thread, one could say to make sure that 1) they buy items un-assembled to minimize transit damage, 2) pick up items instead of delivery, 3) items bought can be sent directly to the vendor/distributor for repair. Not ideal, especially for faraway customers, but this seems to be the cost of doing business with evetech in order to take advantage of their cheaper than average pricing.

Edit: that bent case/graphics card/pci-e slot is cringe.

It's the responsibility of the retailer to ensure an item is safely delivered, having an option for insurance on checkout is bogus and sounds like a typical Evetech ploy to con money out of their customers.

Evetech must refund the customer. They can then claim damages from the courier. My guess is they dont give a fk.

Either way. Lotsa bad press for Evetech recently
