Lol I remember being an op in channel #beginner where we'd all be helping users and trying to eventually become an IRC op. Eventually I tried to start a competing IRC network called RSAChat along with Recall and a few other guys (later renamed WWIRC) and we managed to extend ircservices to include our own BabyServ replica (which we called SmallServ) and "Services" agent to handle raw commands. Come to think of it, I don't know what the point of creating SmallServ was if ChanServ already managed channels perfectly fine, arguably better than BabyServ even lol... I guess ZAnet was different in a mystifyingly good way that inspired everyone else to try to be like it. When gayspud found out we were trying to lure users away from ZAnet I got a permanent Services autokill on both my nicks (CyberDems & FragtioN). To be fair, that was after several prior offenses... Gaspode & I had many encounters... I remember the shiver of fear I would get seeing a fresh DM appearing and flashing from that nickname after doing something "naughty" like a simple "/stats o" or "/msg OperServ help" LOL.

or something along those lines, LOL. The funny thing is he'd barely never ever really show himself except when coming to flex his k-line biceps. I'm guessing he'd chat in the forbidden #ZAnet channel where idling and casual chat was prohibited lol. Every once in a while I'd try to log back on only to find that this ban was permanent. My nick basically got blacklisted because I would change IP and ident to try bypass the akill, so now whenever I changed to that nick I would get instantly autokilled. It was pretty 1337 actually lol. Guess I'll never see all those unread MemoServ memos after all...!
Needless to say I was glad to see ZAnet.org.za eventually die out after that.
