IS Shaping traffic/ Network Problems

hmm this sounds like the IPC congestion problem of 2005/2006 all over again :( took telkom MONTHS to upgrade IS's link there :(

EDIT:

Telkom upgrades and installs to IS (didata) are supposed to be on time after they settled that court case, http://www.mybroadband.co.za/nephp/?m=show&id=5788

In terms of the settlement between the two parties, Telkom has agreed not to withhold facilities from IS and will meet a defined service-level agreement where it will provide facilities and do repairs within specified times.

EDIT2: my whole post is speculation btw :)

bitter sweet test i did now, added a proxy i have on a saix dsl account to firefox, browsing worked perfectly

Loaded a whole page from flickr, with about 60 thumbnails and not one loaded halfway and stopped :)

From this test, the IPC cant be congested, the problem must be elsewhere

Which ISPs are affected by this?

Leno - Was that a local proxy you were using?

yea, i have a box sitting on a saix account, not a public proxy

I am on IS uncapped, international browsing sux, half pages load, especially pages with a lot of elements, eg image galleries

This is quite disconcerting given I am looking to switch over to ADSL.

Saix for browsing and IS for downloading == Winning Combo

Granted u only get full download speed "periodically" with the IS account its still worth it nonetheless.

RPM - i think an article about this should be done to stirr IS's Backsides into gear to action!!!

did they forget to unshape torrents today, still crawling and its 6.30

I don't know what is going on but this is starting to bug me. I'm very close to cancelling my account with openweb. I know it's not their fault...but I don't have a choice thanks to IS. Not even a proper explanation as to why this is happening. In mooi afrikaans...EK IS BESIG OM MY MOER TE STRIP!!

Is this also affecting IS uncapped? Been away but if I get back tomorrow and my line's not working I'm not going to be impressed considering the ridiculous amount I pay for it...

I second that. and I'm not even torrenting lately, trying to get some updates, tools & patches for a project but nooo.
