Afrihost overtakes RSAWeb and Webafrica in battle for top South African ISP

The top-rated Internet service provider in South Africa is Cool Ideas, followed by Afrihost and RSAWeb, Analytico’s quarterly customer satisfaction report reveals.

Analytico is a research company that provides market research, network intelligence, and marketing insights to South African IT and telecommunications companies.
 
Completely pointless survey.. Cool Ideas has little to no technical service capability they do not have a 24hr technical help desk..outages of 5 days and no ability to resolve... also generally more expensive. They are deeply unimpressive...
 
Not so fast.............Analytico! If you had bothered to survey by region I think you would have found a different story. Most of these ISP's (all of them?) struggle to provide the same level of service accross SA - some are good on the high-veld (e.g. Afrihost) but not anywhere else (e.g. Afrihost in Western Cape or KZN). Like much of the service industries in SA its all about location. After more experience - Analytico is clearly a JNB based company - the view of the world of South Africa while sitting at a desk (or work from home) in Bryanston. Perhaps they need to get out of their "bubble"?

Are there any issues you are experiencing on our network in other regions?

We have built quite an extensive and robust network in all 3 regions. We host caches for all content providers in each region to make sure our client gets the best stream quality and the fastest downloads they can. We make use of low-latency routes to international destinations from each region with failovers.

Our support centre is based in JHB but we provide the same level of support across the board to all our clients.

My comments are a result of many issues of the years with Afrihost services or rather the services that you resell and the interaction with the service providers to provide solutions. In summary it often takes many contacts with you and many hours on the phone Afrihost to both explain the issue with call back after callback to resolve the issue. For whatever reason Afrihost work better with MTN around JNB. Service problems in CPT not very well. This might be just the way MTN do it but Afrihost have not overcome this slant. Regardless from the customers side there is a clear bias. When I deal with ISP's or resellers in CPT I get instant responce (compared to waiting on the phone line or email queque with Afrihost) and my problem is dealt with within hours compared to within days with Afrihost. Are Afrihost the best ISP in JNB. Probably. Are Afrihost the best ISP in the Western Cape - no. So is Afrihost the best in South Africa - I don't think so; unless Afrihost is rated by what they do in Sandton/Rosebank.
