Just bought the ring...

Congrats OP!!

Question: is a synthetic diamond as strong as natural diamond which is near indestructible and as such used for industrial purposes?

When it was my time all those years ago, got my wife an international brand for engagement and wedding (platinum with a big near flawless). Thousands of GBP. I was rich before I got married haha. I wonder what it worth all these years later .

Personally, I don't care about them (have never wore mines except on the day and I don't know what she has done with it) but as long as she continues to love me as I love her thats all that matters .
So sweet

Just paid for the ring.
Platinum solitaire setting with an emerald cut. 1ct, F, VVS2
Ratio of 1.51. Table is 61%, Dept is 60.4%
IGI report looks pretty good.
I chose lab-grown because I don't feel mined diamonds are worth it, and because I could get a larger stone for my budget. Its a Chemical Vapor Deposition grown diamond. Type IIa
Pretty excited for it. So now I just have to wait the 4 weeks to get it made. Thankfully I am only proposing in late Dec, so there is no rush (but not telling the jewller that).
When is the wedding?

why do women always choose diamonds? there are a million different type of stones to choose from, diamonds being the most boring... any women on here (probably 1) can you please explain this?

Same way they wear white, they are pure maidens.

It's romantic connotations. Certain things are linked to certain events or milestones.

It doesn't have to be, but that's how we are.

My wifes wedding ring is made of Tanzanite. She didn't pick it though, but I knew her well enough to know that she would like the style and colour. In the time we'd been married, she's only picked tanzanite or sapphire jewelry.

Diamonds are the hardest gemstones on the planet, which means great durability for a ring that will be worn daily.
Another option is Moissanite which is a 9.5 in hardness (diamonds are a 10).

Yea this is a good reason to stick to diamonds. My wife loves all kinds of gemstones, I think diamonds are probably her least favourite, but for the wedding/engagement rings we stuck to diamonds because some gemstones are porous etc. and won't last as long.

I wasn't given the choice. I would have preferred a nice gemstone.
