Just bought the ring...

I'm in the UK which is why I bought a ring here.

There are two reasons I won't go mined.
1) I would have to spend £5k to get the same ring with a mined diamond and I wouldn't spend that sort of money on a ring, and my GF would be furious at me if I did.
2) **** De Beers and their artificially inflated prices.

Furthermore this is a Type IIa certified diamond, which means that it's the purest form of diamond. Only 1-2% of mined diamonds are that pure.

And if I wanted to buy a 3ct stone it would cost me £2k here, which is R46k. SA prices are insane, which is one of the reasons I bought here. Had it been cheaper in SA I would have bought it and had family collect.

Don’t forget to close the loop with us here when you bend the knee. We love happy endings.
I proposed yesterday after getting her parents blessing.
Did it at Gwahumbe reserve in KZN.
Got a high school friend to do the photos since it's what he does, and they came out great.

I count myself the luckiest SOB on the planet.

Congratulations

Wishing you a long and happy future

Just paid for the ring.
Platinum solitaire setting with an emerald cut. 1ct, F, VVS2
Ratio of 1.51. Table is 61%, Dept is 60.4%
IGI report looks pretty good.
I chose lab-grown because I don't feel mined diamonds are worth it, and because I could get a larger stone for my budget. Its a Chemical Vapor Deposition grown diamond. Type IIa
Pretty excited for it. So now I just have to wait the 4 weeks to get it made. Thankfully I am only proposing in late Dec, so there is no rush (but not telling the jewller that).
Congrats, Lab Grown is the way to go....

Congrats however.....the reason why people choose mined diamonds and not lab grown diamonds is symbolic that a mined diamond took a million years or so to form, and as such the relationship will last long.

With lab grown, it is purely about the shiny stone, and not about being symbolic about a long lasting marriage. For some women thats a big no no, others may be more accomodating.

ie lab grown takes a few days, mined took 1 million years.

Dude, congrats. Don't listen to silly comments about symbolic this or that. A ring is a ring. Hope you have a long, faithful and happy marriage and many, many kids as well. FTW!
