Just got a call from sentech

cant wait 2 months for telkom to install an adsl line, if they can install within the next few day, the have a new customer

Then don't go over the 20 gig cap? Oh no wait. It's too late for that now. We all being punished for ppl abusing their caps.

I very much doubt that. MyWireless has been a Mickey Mouse setup from the beginning. They've lost customers by the truckload and now they're resorting to desperate measures in order to prevent further loss.

I doubt it will help pissing off the few remaining customers.

From 20 gig to 3 gig? How is that fair? I haven't even abused my cap.

Plus we need to buy a new modem? HA!

Ummm New Modem??? There's no need for a new modem. Sentech uses the same backbone and protocals for flexi and classic services so there shouldn't be a need to change modems....or at least that's what the people at their Classic Campaign call center (011 993 5051) told me.

Still, doesn't change the fact that it's a total loss out for just about everyone.

The call... again

SO, never got an email after last nights call so another call today saying that based on my usage I should migrate to the flexi 10,000 month to month at 10gig cap and R1/meg over that. All that for mere R1,999/month

where do I sign, I mean puke

Sentech's new advertising slogan: "MyWireless, the new fixed location mobile browsing ONLY service".

Cant be called broadband anymore as all Flexi packages use the 256 package, which only averages around 120kbps.

Well I just gave NoWire a call.
I clearly stated that I am a 128k Classic subscriber, that my contract has expired and that I am currently on a month to month contract with them.
The NoWire lady informed me that I have nothing to worry about, that I will be unaffected and that I can carry on using my 10 gigs per month. It is just new customers which will not be able to subscribe to the Classic packages, since they have been officially discontinued. I liked how she explained things to me - quick, and to the point.

They can't automatically migrate you to the Flexi packages anyway, because they billed us for the month of September already and secondly because they will need to sign a new contract with us.

I'm going to stay within my 10 gig limit though, because I do think that they can shaft me with R0.50 per meg for any usage above 10 gigs.

And the thing about the new modems - since we are successfully connecting to their network on the classic package, it goes to say that we can successfully connect to the same network, using the same old modem, for the flexi packages. Or am I missing something?

In any case, I'm staying with 128k Classic package. I guess I'm one of the their 15% of customers who keeps within the limits of the AUP, but who they want to get rid of.

Oh and one more thing:

--Firstly, an analysis of Classic users revealed that it would be more cost effective for the vast majority of these customers to use MyWireless Flexi products.
...
Sentech said that, on the standard package which has the largest number of Classic users, 85% of the users would pay less on the equivalent Flexi Package based on their current average data usage.
Crap! They make it sound like they care about how much their customers pay. This "vast majority of customers" can easily switch over to the Flexi products WITHOUT them discontinuing the Classic products.

Sorry about the rant but I needed to vent somewhere.

Is the 20G limit the combined total of one's Uploads and Downloads?

Eish got the call ...

The oak said i'm a classic subscriber/user whatever and i must
move to flexi, i replied will be crossgarding to iBust.

hope its faster than sentech :-)

W t f ?Actually encouraging customers to take the cheaper options, so that Sentech makes less money?Like "you're paying us too much and we sympathise with you...."

Why don't you simply not answer the phone? Get them to do it in writing. Maybe you can squeez another month or two out of them on the classic package.

haha, not a bad idea.

Btw, im not too familiar with Sentechs Flexi packages, so how bad/"good" are these?

What the cost and how does it work, top up and hardcapped?

think they are hardcapped.
i'm still on contract, think i'll ride it out till the end and make the most of every gig i can get, will cap this baby every month, then i think i'll get myself adsl, still 10 months to go, damn

Would 128k be upgraded to 256 then or would we still be on the respective speeds allocated to that specific contract - I've got 22 months to go on my contract.

They're just lazy.

Cryptic, good thing you got the contract unlike what everyone says, by the 10th month or so you'll probably be the person with the best banwidth prices in SA if everything else stays how they are.

Yep Ekhaatvensters u right, might as well jus be grateful that I got in @ the right time.
Read your contract. They can cancel it anytime they like. Of course they won't just do it outright, but they will sooth you out of it long before your time is up.
I had two months left on my contract, when my signal just disappeared. They could not give me any reason for it  They did however kindly allow me to cancel the contract - with a 2 month notice period plus an undisclosed cancellation fee...
Now, I'm on adsl, and much happier.
