Know your consumer rights!

Just out of curiosity, why are you banging this particular drum so zealously? I'm all for consumer right advocacy, but Vodacom's data bundle policy wouldn't be top of my list.

I don't believe in half measures. Some people post one complaint and that's the end of the story. No wonder consumer's rights get trampled on.

Everybody's priorities differ, but don't sit with folded arms, MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!

I'm still not convinced Vodacom's 30 day expiration terms are inherently unfair, unreasonable, or unjust, but section 48 of the CPA is so broad that a case could certainly be made for it.

Definitions. Why the difficulty in interpretation?

Un*just" (?), a. 1. Acting contrary to the standard of right; not animated or controlled by justice; false; dishonest;
2. Contrary to justice and right; prompted by a spirit of injustice; wrongful;

Un*rea"son*a*ble (?), a. Not reasonable; irrational; immoderate; exorbitant.

Un*fair", a. Not fair; not honest; not impartial; disingenuous; using or involving trick or artifice; dishonest; unjust; unequal

Taking what is not rightfully yours ie. unexpired bundles, is unfair and dishonest.

It's theoric. From Chaucer. It's a synecdoche for textual knowledge detached from reality.

Reality: rightful ownership unfairly removed = unjust = theft = crime

Saying it as it is without playing with semantics.

Go check up on the law of property and get yourself a coherent concept of ownership etc ...
Be very careful before using the term theft for depravation of a service outside of electricity ....

Data is a service; airtime is a service. Airtime don't expire, why does data? And no, I don't need a degree in bandwidth to know when I'm being taken for a ride.

No you need to know something about the concept of property and the concept of theft - ask Telkom if somebody can be charged with theft for using a telephone without paying for it; their legal department is likely to get cross with you and ask if you are working for a bloody ISP ...
then go to Eskom and ask them the same question; Eskom will give you a wink and be very happy that the legislature wrote into statute a special clause about electricity

Selective wording in your reply. EXACTLY what does the data bundle state?

You appear to be the clever one, enrich me with your expertise how data is purchased in advance and cannot be stored and capacity planning and blah blah blah.

The T&C states the bundle expires in 30 days. I'm fully aware of that but just because it's co policy, doesn't mean it's fair and just. I'm forced to buy it under that unjust terms as the 3 ISPs have a monopoly on data bundles. I'm fighting those unjust terms to have it declared invalid. Comprehendo?

No need to discuss spectrum etc. as it is irrelevant. The MNOs offer a product with a limited lifespan. The consumer purchases this product fully aware of the lifespan. Where's the problem?

because in CJ and others opinions consumers are unable to make rational decisions in their own self interest and all product choice should be removed from the market to impose the opinions of a handful of people who don't understand economics or the technical systems involved in a particular market
