Aaah, okay, makes sense, all roads lead to Telkom. I gather it is possible to set a limit on the capped portion to prevent accidental overruns?

For R 59 uncapped after hours (on a 10 meg line) I am more than happy to do the odd manual disconnect ;) but if this is a hassle for you, then get a full uncapped account and spend (a lot) more. :)
 
So Ive been using @lantic for just under a month now, and found a really nice, low tech solution :)

Cost R160 from Builders warehouse and took about 30 minutes to programmed a full weeks schedule, and it works perfectly.

Some interesting results on @lantic, My NZBs are all over the place and one second its 350kbps, the next its 210Kbps on my 4 meg line, I am using frugal news, and it use to work at 400+Kbps on Mweb, but then again I ran mwebs own server as a backup.

Any Idea if @lantic has there own news server?

I use Astraweb and find that gives me a good generally consistent full speed (at present 8 megs). There ere times it might vary a bit, but generally very happy.

AFAIK @lantic doesn't have their own news server
 
Had a great night downloading from news servers at full speed. From 08:30, DL dead, but can browse, stream radio, watch youtube etc. Switch to my other ISP and DL's fly at full speeds. Back to Lantic and no DL's

Have phoned supported and waiting for them to call back.

Anyone else having hassles? Maybe I have been "capped" :(

Nope. Doing steam-downloads and updates today. No problems at all.

streaming nokia mix radio too no problems... Played couple of league of legends games too. Everything seems normal and unshaped.... :-)

Maybe your account/pc or line but not a general problem. :) Good luck troubleshooting cause I know it can be a headache
 
Thanks for the feedback - I am sure it is lantic based as when I switch to WA my DL's were going just fine. Anyway have spoken to and emailed support and now waiting for some feedback and hopeful resolution.

Had a phone call at about 4 and the matter has been escalated. I have to say that when I have contacted them via email they have been good about getting back to me - hopefully the matter will soon be resolved.
 
I take it this only allows one connection? Are multiple PPOE's from the same line allowed?

Wondering if taking a 20GB capped @tlantic account with this bolt on would work.

Trouble is the switch over time might become a problem unless done manually.
 
Still going strong for a R59 account and no shaping or warning letters of throttling or high usage......... ;)

I found an alternative way to disconnect from the internet that doesn't involve switching off the router/modem.

All you need is a router/modem with telnet access and a computing device that is connected to the router/modem at the appropriate times. You then copy one of the scripts supplied in this forum thread: http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?7349-TD-W8970-reboot-script&p=19084&viewfull=1#post19084
then use a scheduling program to run the script at the appropriate times.

The user provided a script for both Windows and Linux computers (not sure if the Linux script will work on OS X or BSD). With a small modification to one of the sleep commands, it works for my router.
