First time poster, hoping anybody can assist. My laptop fell and now my LCD is broken. Screen is cracked and that black fluid is leaking, kind of like with a cellphone. It is an acer laptop. Can I have this fixed at a decent price or would if be better to buy a new laptop? The laptop was bought for R3000

If the laptop have an external VGA port, you can buy an external LCD monitor and use that instead of the laptop monitor.

Same happened to mine, the screen cost more than a new laptop, which is insane. So you can either buy a new laptop, or external monitor.

Your call.

I think you should buy another laptop or, buy an external monitor as mentioned by The_Librarian.

I ran into the same problem about 2 years ago, my laptop screen cracked and paid R2930, 94 for the screen replacement and the Dell technician to perform the repair.

I've helped 2 friends with similar problems. The LCDs were +/-R750 incl shipping on eBay. It was a 2 hour exercise to swop them out. I pretty much Google'd both ops.

External screen is a perfect solution. If it deesn't fit purpose and LCD replacement is too expensive, donate laptop to another MyBB user.

First google how to replace the screen on your specific laptop to make sure that you have some guide to do it. Then get screen from SPL and DIY.

Also my experience. That's why, when I have a major failure on my laptop, I buy a new one. Rather keep the old one or sell it for spares.
