Lars Reichelt resigns as Cell C CEO

Having dealt with Lars, all I can say. Is THANK YOU for not only what you did for the public, South African broadband landscape. When you said you would do something, you did it. You didn't need to talk rubbish the whole time, you got this done.

Godspeed

Damn! Thought it was an April Fools joke - but we are in July :(
Sincerely hope things don't implode at CellC.
Lars has been a breath of fresh air in the stale and putrid world of telecoms in this country!
How many CEO's of major companies do you know who would be prepared to communicate directly with us plebs?
Wish him all of the best in his future endeavors.

This is so sad, i feel woooosh will be leaving too damn i can't imagine myself going back to the yellow network

Good luck lars. Sad to see u leave Cell C :(

Thank you for dislodging that stubborn rim-of-scum off of the mobile broadband bath. Without your interventions, with Cell C, i strongly believe we would still be paying extorted prices, through our vaseline-lined @rses, for mobile bandwidth. You single-handedly arrested the other two "rapists" when introducing affordable mobile broadband. Consequently the "rapists" have succumbed.

I salute you, and best of luck with whateva endeavours you pursue in the future.

Cheers

John

Board: We've been reading some MyBB articles about you-know-who. So tell us, Lars.
Lars: What?
Board: If the network suddenly collapsed, would you be prepared to loosen your tie?
Lars: If I really have to.
Board: And roll up your sleeves?
Lars: Ooh. I don't know. At a push.
Board: And work in a sweaty datacentre until, say, 11pm at night to get it back online?
Lars: No farkin way.
Board: You're fired.

If Lars left because he failed to make the company profitable then we need to brace ourselves for an increase in broadband prices because Cell C shareholders will now like to see the money flowing in and no longer out. Look at Phuthuma at Empty-N, they actually paid him to stay a little longer because he turned that company into a very good profit making cow during his tenure. Why was Lars not persuaded to stay little bit longer? A: Directors can't stand someone who makes little to no profit, regardless of growing the brand. Lars did a great job in making Cell C one of the most recognisable brands in SA and for that Joe Public must commend him. Because of him, I can pay less than R150 for 2 GB instead of more than R8000 Empty N and Vodascum used to charge before. Cell companies work the other way round, screw the customers and make more money for them you'll last (empty n great example) Really sad for him to leave just like that.

Lars has left for family reasons and more specifically issues regarding his kids. Some of you peeps here should work for the tabloids. FFS.

I can only believe that Lars is putting his family (currently still living overseas) first. He achieved a lot in a short space of time at CellC and provided us with hope for a competitive mobile industry, and most of all, he had a personality to match his hard work ethic. I wish him well for his future endeavours.

I'll have a Chivas to you, sir Lars :)

Best of luck with your future endeavours Lars. You brought a breath of fresh air to the mobile arena and the forum. :)

I think you will find that there are a number of EX Cell C franchise owners who are happy to see the back of him. They lost their businesses because of him and the stores are still not achieving with the new owners!

One post wonder much?

While I have no doubt the initiatives he put in place are at lower margins the increase in volume will eventually make up for it. Many people I know are going to move to Cell C but are currently stuck in contracts and cannot move until later. I am in that very situation and will be moving along with 5 friends within the next 2 years... his impact will only truly be felt in 2-3 years.

Before he arrived Cell C was on the straight road to nowhere. Well done Lars, I wish you the best in your future endeavours.
