Received my 60" Samsung Plasma yesterday.. for R7919 ... WHAT A WIN... for those that are interested, its the 5000 series and does not have 3D... The delivery note was from Rectron Midrand..

I would hate to know what the total freight cost of the tv was from factory to my door...must be a big loss leader!

does it come with a stand or wall mount/bracket??
Still waiting for mine ... did they send you any delivery information before hand??

No they just pitched up.. it does come with a stand, I didn't take it out but it's the "four" legged one..

Just picked up the 55" version as well....very happy so far
Couldn't get any of the Smart functions at first - but seems to have been an issue with the LG Store being offline
Not sure how long you have yours for, but is the LG store down/unavailable often?

I'm also eyeing this one, it is on special now sub 10k. How is your experience with the upscaling quality and contrast/black levels so far? Since it's IPS panel, I suppose it's lacking a bit when it comes to darker scenes?

I don't see any issues with the contrast when there are dark scenes. I have configured the picture with the 'Vivid' option and it suits most scenes - sports, reality, music videos and movies.

Cool thanks for the feedback. Walked out of Makro with an impulse buy this weekend though. Got this http://www.lg.com/za/tvs/lg-50LB652T/technical-specifications for R7999 instead of 11-12k. Can't complain about it thus far, still curious how the UHD performs.
 
I'm in the market for a new TV. As I already have another Samsung Smart TV (2013 version) I want to stick to Samsung as my wife is used to the interface :D

I'm looking at the following:
Samsung 55" 3D Smart Curved - Makro or
Samsung 55" Curved Tizen Smart - DionWired

I am however not sure about the "Curve" as it seems to have more negatives than positive (i.e. sitting at angle, glare etc.) anyone with some advice here?

My non-curve option is:
Samsung 55" 3D Smart - Makro
Samsung 55" 3D Smart - DionWired

Same TV thou but R500 cheaper at DionWired?

To those who didn't see it, like myself, there was a massive, massive clearance sale on groupon on Saturday. The TV I have being eyeing, Samsung 60"went for R5999. The plasma of course. Ps4's at R3999. That will teach me not to read my emails on a Saturday.

I cant believe i missed out on this, I am actually feeling depressed about it. Those deals were incredible!
