LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Inb4 Postman says "There are no LED TVs"

Correct, there aren't. LED is a marketing gimmick used to trick the masses into believing they have an entirely new (and better) technology.

Sure, there are some implementations ($) that are better, like full array LED backlit LCD.

Backlights will always be the downfall of flat screen TVs (and the reason plasma and OLED, whose pixels are self-illuminated, are superior), that is if one cares about picture quality. Most people do not.

You hurt my TV's feelings

Why?

DESCRIPTION

The independently lighted pixels do not require a common lamp or medium, and thus are completely independent from each other. This has enabled the pixels to control their own luminance, so true depth and tone can now be produced.

To those who didn't see it, like myself, there was a massive, massive clearance sale on groupon on Saturday. The TV I have being eyeing, Samsung 60"went for R5999. The plasma of course. Ps4's at R3999. That will teach me not to read my emails on a Saturday.

I dont think there were many of those TVs on sale, because by the time i checked it said sold out.

True, but it's like the lotto. Gotta be in it to win it, and I missed it. Just as well, would have bought a fortune of stuff on that sale. haha

I'm looking for 50" + screen for gaming. I know I'm probably not going to get another plasma again, so I'm looking for a T.V. with a very fast response time.

I have 10k to spend. Any recommendations ?

There are still a few 51" FHD plasmas floating around.

They are legit
family business in Pietermaritzburg
I was going to buy my tv from them and have it shipped but a local hifi corp price matched

Thanks, I wonder if the free shipping still stands for that big boy all the way to Cape Town

Greetings!

I'm on the look out for a new TV as i'm moving and my current viewing is done on the flat mates set.

I only have a 6k budget at a push and want a decent set (LG,Samsung, etc) 40 inch and up, preferably 43.

I will be watching alot of sport on it and using it for occasional gaming.

I found this special but i'm worried about the refresh rate, 50Hz. Really dont want ghosting while watching sport.

Pls give me your 2,5 or 10 cents worth.
