Just bought this one as well.
9.2K at takealot...its also 9k on the dot at groupon but i just prefer takealots service better so whent with them.

So guys...any advice on my first plasma?
Heard you gotto run it in over 1st 100hrs at under 50% brightness/contrast?

It's not that you need to run it in, it's more the fact that the picture improves after 100-odd hours... so don't spend too much time calibrating, find a happy medium, enjoy it, and then 100hrs in spend some time fine tuning to your environment.

Breaking in plasmas is not necessary any more.
 
Got mine. Enjoying it so far. Pictures solid. Amazed at how good it is at any viewing angle. The irony is because of glare I wouldn't use the plasma in the lounge. Using it in the bedroom the main viewing angle is from right in front. Moved the lcd to the lounge where the viewing angles are varied. Bit of a catch 22.

How is the plasma after a few days use? Would you buy it again?

I bought a UA55HU8500 this weekend, but im not 100% sure it was worth the money and i'm thinking to return it and rather get one of the top end 1080p tv's or looking at some of the last plasmas.

Where can anyone find higher end plasmas or is it a wasted effort?

Yeah, I'm not new to plasma. My first sets were plasma. Picture just gets better as I run the set in so no regrets. At R9.3k pretty good value for a 60".

Just added a minix x8-h plus to my setup so am not missing smart tv functionality.

Content at the moment.

Sadly there no high end plasmas being manufacturers any more.

Edit: I'm acutely aware of screen burn and image retention with plasma but to date no such issues.

Good luck, don't think you will find anything. I got the Samsung 65HU8700 and as good as this high end model is, I definitely prefer plasma.

This makes me very sad, would you recommend the PA60H5000? or wait for OLED to settle in price?
I still have a UA50HU7000 that i moved to the bedroom, that i can use if all else fails.
Difficult to view that plasma in a store since no one carries them anymore :(

Dont write him off just yet, his namesake has future vision =>Dolby Vision. The next evolution in TV technology will be in HRD (high dynamic range) utilising standards such as ....... Dolby Vision=> http://www.dolby.com/us/en/technologies/dolby-vision.html

Since there will be no further development of Plasma hardware, it is likely future HDR LCD/LED sets will have better PQ than did Plasma.

It is rumored one or more of the high-end Samsung J models will be HDR ready (firmware upgradable to latest Dolby Vision spec).
