LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

if anyones interested hirschs have the Ps64E8000 in stock with voice and gesture control. awesome stuff. now to convince the wife that we dont really need a refrigerator or dining table :D

Pleasure bud.

From what I can see it is the AU40D5000 model on special. Well that's what it shows on the PDF file I downloaded.

Not a bad TV at all but it would not be my pick for SD and sport (I know, because I have a high reliance on them, which is why I got 42" plasma).

Another thing is that the new LED-LCD range are also reflective, although not as reflective as plasma. Generally if she was OK with CRT TV (reflective) then plasma should be fine. But it could still be cause for concern due to the much bigger screen size.

For 3m it would be awesome if she could add two TVs to the list:

LA46D550 46" 1920x1080 CCFL backlit LCD which uses a matte screen, much better for reflections. Was recently on special for R5,999, will be more now.
PS51D450 51" plasma which is usually R5,999. 1366x768. With the benefits mentioned in my previous post.

You should rather get a plasma, i also saw a 46" sammy led (yes postman we know about the led) for 7999.

I see that Game has the Sony 40BX420 on Sale for R4 399.00.

Makro has the Sony 40CX520 for R4 899.00.

Or should I rather just go for the Samsung with the HD PVR special. I already have the HD decoder so will have to sell that.

New Samsung range is out so IMO it would be silly getting anything else. Latest tech, lower models with better features, etc.

I have been burgled and the insurance don't want to pay out so I have to buy two new TV's and thus are looking at the more affordable range. I think I am going to go for the Makro deal.

Why won't they pay? Surely you have insurance to cover your goods?

Having no usb hd player is not the end of the world, nor is one hdmi port, surely you can get a splitter or something.

Hi Guys

Has anyone seen the new Samsung range at stores yet? I'm looking for mid/entry level LED/Plasma but I am unable to find any E-ranges in stores?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of finally getting a new tv this weekend. Samsung 46" D5000 at about R7.5 (comes with hd pvr that i will try to sell as i dont want to subscribe to datv) http://www.samsung.com/africa_en/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UA46D5000PRXXA

Use: regular tv, movies/music through USB hard drive and to serve as a screen for my computer

The specs say its 50hz motion plus and I'm told I should get a tv that's 100hz. But is this applicable for my use? I don't really watch sports and the tv will probably be connected to my computer most of the time for web browsing, movies, etc

I currently have a CRT, so it will probably be a huge improvement either way. I just know that I wont buy another tv for a loooong time, so I wanted to get some advice from the forum :)

Also looking to buy 46: Samsung LA46D550 46" FHD LCD TV for R5999 at Makro. Damn good price, but the 50 Hz worries me. Although I looked at the TV and it seems fine. Will never really know until you actually buy it.

I have this TV and cannot fault it (except for crappy AllShare). I watch HD movies on it, HD PVR, XBox and Blu-Ray player all hooked up. Excellent TV.
I paid R6,999 in Jan. Good price you got there.
