But you have superior vision.

You could pick up motion issues with an LED when the science lab at Displaymate couldn't over a period months looking for it. I exclude you then - but to most others they battle to see motion blur and find that particular dim. Dare I say it, the dimmest ever tested ...

In other words while you're satisfied with what you see, it really doesn't mean he will

Or maybe they were paid off or had the incorrect light bulbs fitted?

Let's rather not argue - you're happy with it and all I'm saying is he should just double check because reviews don't rate it great in the light
 
The F5500 was plasma and led. So are you both talking about the same? Eg UA40F5500 vs PS51F5500?

But you can take your pick of reviews or even go to forums and read client reviews. All I'm saying is that I'd be weary

It has a lot of reflections, so you will need a dark viewing environment to enjoy it.
The screen appears grayish when the lights are on.
When you turn off the lights, the Samsung F5500 plasma is a solid performer.
As with the F5300, you can't really watch this TV in a bright room.
This means a very good picture quality in a dark environment, but a washed out picture when the lights are turned on
The only downside to this TV is that it suffers significantly in bright rooms.
Not the best bright room performance (typical of plasma TVs)
Not stellar in bright rooms
Picture quality deteriorates quickly as room lighting brightens
Like a gremlin, this TV hates bright lights

The F5500 led and plasma being budget range sets, the glare can't be great on them since they actually both have gloss finish with no anti glare treatment.

The f8500 would be a better choice for plasma with anti glare treatment.

And that's just me picking up the tail end of this discussion. :p
 
Thing is it isn't only glare ... seems colours wash out, blacks go grey etc

Again, glare will be an issue yes. That I agree with. On the second point though, colours do not "wash out" and blacks do not go grey.

The 5300 will have the same problems in the light.

Can't speak for the 8500 though as that's way outta my budget. That set, while it may have better performance in the light has it's own issues with buzzing.
 
Oh God, is he still harping on how bad the F5500 is?

I have it been using it for quite some time now and the colours are not washed out and blacks are not grey... lmao
Colors are very vivid and blacks are insanely black (and with no wonky backlight bleed like a lot of lcd's have)

It's great, at night
Awesome colours, with no light
Perfect white balance, when dark

But I'll take your word over any review and industry expert, Keeper ;) You're just that much more an expert

If anything, the black levels on the H5500 LED looked "washed out". Colours popped though, no complaints about that.

I would take reviews from sites like CNET with a spoon of salt. Their review process of HDTVs leaves a lot to be desired. I consider AVS and AVF to be in depth reviewers. A lotta reviews of the F5500 early on were from sites not really dedicated to HDTV reviews, which gave the set a bad initial rep.
 
It's cool - sometimes I also like to overlook the bad reviews when I'm interested in something and go with my heart.
