Aaah... cool, finally I understand that one - def need dimmed lights for movie mode on my plasma.
That's why hifi corporation has a dark area where you can see plasma, led, lcd all of it side by side then you can make the best decision.

Best in the world. I don't know much about them though. How much is their 43" FHD plasma? Do it!

I suspect over the lifetime of the TV the amount of time it will spend in 3D mode will be miniscule. Yes 3D is a nice 'gadget' feature which you will do to death in the first 6 months, but most likely after that only occasionaly for content that really does it justice.pity there is no other Passive 3d tech
Went to audiovision yesterday. Only have 50" at the moment (R12k) and will be getting 42" end of august at about R8k.
Interesting the different info you get from different sales staff, I was told that they have landed and should be in end of the week at R7k. Maybe he is just an optimist.
So I got my Samsung 46EH5000 this weekend from Game. Got a price beat on Makro's R6999. Also paid an extra R700 for 3 year's extended warranty. Very happy with it, although I have to admit it's overkill for my bedroom...LOL. But at the price I got it for, I'm very happy. Just miss my picture and picture function..
Also, got a wall bracket from Makro for R249. Now, just to play around with the settings to get the best picture. Thanks to all of you that gave me advice.
Anyone know of a good place to get reasonably priced HDMI cables?
I bought this from Hificorp on Friday, geez I wish they had a dark area, the entire shop was lit up like the sun.

They are bringing me another one tho, and the sales guy said he would check it for lightbleed, pity there is no other Passive 3d tech (after this I would go Plasma in a flash) for the same price/size![]()
HiFi at Arbour Town has a dark area. (Amanzimtoti). I ended up buying a LG Cinema 3D Passive Tv. Its amazing.
Electronic shops are generally better than the major retailers.
Sounds like a fantastic place to view TVs and that is a nice TV! Would you mind loading a 1920x1080 black picture and taking a photo of it at night with no lights? Let's see how well the LG's partial micro dimming (IIRC) works.![]()
As I said, being pragmatic one watches at all times not only at night.
As I said, being pragmatic one watches at all times not only at night. One can even have a tv in a dark area in the house and then move it to a lighter area. Also give to a child that may either be in a light or dark area if you decide to buy a bigger one. Being prAGMATIC IS THE OPPOSITE OF BEING DOGMATIC.

Let me know how it pans out - I also bought a set on Sunday. The bleed is there, not nearly as bad as yours though - I did set the backlight lower as soon as I switched mine onBut its a noticeable feature. Its seems to be a unavoidable feature of narrow bezel edge lit LED backlighting though...
My god, the manual is crap though, don't you think? Did you get the 32in LCD thrown in for 12999?
Ian
That doesn't sound good. Would you mind taking a pic of yours? It seems one can't even take advantage of LED-LCD's supposed brightness benefits.
Dions has the new 51E550 plasma for R11000.
This includes 6 sets of 3D glasses and 2 3D blue-rays.
