No it's not only true for AR plasmas in my opinion. Perhaps in your opinion. It's up to the person and their room, direct sunlight, light and window positions, etc. A room with not much direct light makes the need for AR less.

What I meant was that in my opinion your statement "most make it out to be worse than it actually" is normally when people are talking about plasmas with AR coatings. So I agree that the reflections aren't really a problem if a screen has an AR coating.

In my opinion is is totally ridiculous that Samsung SA only have the low end models available without AR coating!

Just for the record, when I make a post, it is always my opinion... just like your comments - they are just your opinion

Go test in the store. If it's the same then it's the usual up close fuzz part of plasma's operation. IIRC I also see green/red bits up very close.

Yeah will be doing that. From what I've been reading it seems that the green pixels are usually present on dark images since green has the slowest decay time of the RGB sub-pixels.

Edit : just came back from staring at plasmas at cats digital. Others had it too.

So, when it comes to the 51D550, I don't think the reflectivity is over exaggerated. I was all set on a plasma - in fact I was totally against LCD... I didn't even look at LCD when I was shopping... and I returned the 51D550 mainly due to reflections.

Yes, the reflection is very bad on this plasmas. It is like a mirror. Good for you, that you manage to return yours. Unfortunately i did not do the same on time. Glad that there are people out there, that can not see this, but for me it is awful and i can not stand it any more. I decided to sell mine guys. I got it for R.10700 and i paid R.1000 for additional three year warranty. I bought the TV a month ago from Hirsh and i got all the paper work. I'm willing to sell it for R.10700. The TV has less then a 250h (did not check in the service menu recently) absolutely no problems with the panel or any buzzing and for R.10700 you are going to get a "brand new" TV with four years warranty which i think is not a bad deal. I'm open to prepositions. Personally, that was my first and my last Samsung. What a peace of crap that is! Any one is more then welcome to come by and have a look at him/her self for free in probably the most expansive mirror in the world. Well done Samsung. A forgot the model is PS51D550

Yep DSTV HD, really nice sharp 1080i feed for a change (some of the previous games werent).

I should have bought it in the first place, but decided to save some money after having a nice trip to AU and NZ two months ago, which i knew will be a mistake, not the trip the saving money was a mistake. Has been for many months (exclusively) 1080i, well for as long as I've had it. You can of course set your HDPVR to downscale to 720p, but thats not the same as native 720p from the broadcaster.

Will try locally if i can. Know it is a place in Centurion that sells them and another shop in CT will try both. Otherwise Take2. The price that shows at the moment is R.20603. I might even go for 55" which is R.24405 will see.
