An assumption?

It was advertised at that price for at least 2 weeks - a month. I even recommended to a IRL friend who bought one.

You must be kicking yourself right now, eh?
I'll get it next time then, maybe :p They pull a bait and switch tho in their advertising. First the D550 at R4999 and then that other crappy entry level 40" LCD!

Anyone know what model LG is on special at game, with the bluray player?

EDIT: Looks like the 42LK430. No specs online?
Best to ask them, but looks like the 430, yes. 430 specs here. 530 specs here. Gonna take some time to read thru and compare both.

Let us know if u find out which model they have on special plz?

edit: 430 is an international model but in the USA they only have the 450.

This will depend on what type/definition/quality of signal you feed the TV.

For instance going from a legacy CRT TV to any of the above flatscreen TVs using SD analogue RF or RCA input, will not produce an impressive result. However if one uses a hi-def input source like DSTV HDPVR, Bluray player or HD HTPC/media player, the difference will be truly impressive.

Then you'll want plasma. 43" Samsung PS43D450.

Also, don't judge TVs in Makro. Go to a proper AV shop with testing room.

I bought a 40" Telefunken FHD LCD from Game for R3799.00 today. The TV is for my room and from initial viewing it is perfect for the price.

Now to get HDMI to my room from my living room. Ground floor to first floor.

Sent from my GT-I9100

You will see little benefit from LED (illumination) technology for the higher price.

Rather get the cheaper LA32D550 LCD and spend the rest on a HDPVR2P. Dont stagger the purchase, for max visual benefit from your money (1080i signal on 1080p display) get both up front.

+1 if 32" is max size allowed.

i went a bit window shopping today. looking for a 40 inch lcd full hd. budget is 5k.

i saw the samsung LA32D550 for R3300, which i think is agreat price. the 40 inch is 6000 though.

there is a samsung 40 inch for 5000 but it only has 1 hdmi port, unlike the 4 of the 32"

should i wait another week, seeing as the R $ rate is so hectic. im a bit worried the prices will increase.

What you using the TV for?

Good price on the 32".

(Squirrel...)

Wouldn't go with the single HDMI 40". Although it's Series 5, we haven't had any panel information, etc.

The multiple HDMI 5 Series, LA40D550, was R4,999. So perhaps if you wait the price will come down.

Will be used for dstv, dvds etc, but also occational web browsing via my media server.

I was looking for the LA40D550 but did seem to find it on special this week.

I hope you understand that Samsung PS43D450 plasma is much better suited for those tasks. 3" bigger and around R4,500 - R5,000. Test at proper AV shop with darker testing room, from your viewing distance. Play with settings.

Sinotech 42" 100hz LED for R5500 at Makro till 26 Sept

OK, I know i posted this already, a Sinotech 42" 100hz LED for R5500 with 5 year guarantee.

Does it sound worthwhile? It's 100hz and 5 year guarantee, really appeals to me. Comments? I have decided I wanna get LCD/LED instead of plasma.
