I've never heard of the "included delivery" being a factor.

The only prerequisites IIRC are:

1) Shop is located in SA
2) Shop has stock

LA32D550 has good [HD] media playback. They really work brilliantly, even with NTFS-formatted external HDD's. :)

Awesome, thanks. So then I can just go to Game with the hirsch product link?

It looks like delivery price is needed. This is from the Game site.

• The Price Beat does not apply to new store openings, display or damaged stock.

• The competitor in question must be in-stock of that identical item.

• The competitor must be a legitimate South African retailer, then the price must include cost of delivery

• The price beat does not apply to foreign stores, including foreign online stores.

I see that the Game Rosebank has opened and the specials there are viewable from their site.

I think the Carnival mall opening special also had the Samsung LA40D5003 in the brochure if I recall, but the one that was actually at the store was the LA40D550 so maybe the same at this branch. I am going to try and get there afterwork and I will post a message if this is the case.

Which delivery?

I take it they're talking about cost of delivering the TV from y city to x city? Because there would be two types of 'deliveries' - the other being courier, which would be a more accurate word if this is the case.

That was the LA40D501 IIRC. A diluted version of the 5 Series, e.g. with only 1 x HDMI and possibly no media playback.

The LA40D550 was on special at R4,999 about 2 months ago, as part of the Walmart deals.

from what i know ...the series 5 c and d models can play media ...i have the 40b550 iirc ...and it does not allow me to play media

Yeah, look, it'll probably only be around R100 anyway. Still waiting on Hirsch to send over the quote.

I hear you, I have C Series (550).

What I'm saying though, is that the D501 (not D550) is a diluted version. It only has 1 x HDMI, and other limits. IIRC I remember reading here that they don't play media either, but I stand corrected.

Okay, damn, I called a Hirsch store and they don't have their own delivery service. He reckoned it would be around R500 for a courier. I guess I'll just have to wait on that House and Home special again.

Also of interest, I asked the guy the price for the model on the phone and he quoted R4000 and said no stock. Then I said on the site there was stock and it was R3550, so he checked and said that the warehouse did have stock and the price was actually R3499. Oy vey.

Just ask the Hirsch salesman email or fax you a quote, then take it to Game. I did the same, although I'm in Cape Town and the store was in Gauteng. Did not bother with courier costs or anything. Game saleman took my quote and phoned the store to confirm pricing and stock. I told him to speak to any sales man there, which he did and acted as if he was a potential customer. Pricing and stock was confirmed, nothing about courier charges was queried and he fetched a panel from their stock.

Hmmm, guess I can try my luck. How long ago was that, maybe they've now been briefed to ask about delivery costs?

Well Hirsch sent the quote (although they didn't include the exact model number, just Samsung 32") so tomorrow morning I'll give it a go at Game, and show mock surprise if they guy asks about delivery costs.

If I get the TV I'll also need HDMI cable for the HD PVR (does it normally come with one? I must have lost it.) and presumably an HDMI-HDMI cable if I want to hook up the PC. That right?

2 weeks ago, Saturday, and a mate went last week after he seeing my panel. He already had an lcd panel but also decided on going for a 51" as well.

Yes 2 x HDMI cables.

Assuming your PC gfx has HDMI out. Make very sure it's not Displayport or something.

Ah crap, the cable that came with the card (ATI R6780 Hawk) says display port on it. I thought it was okay to use as a convertor. Whew, lucky I asked.

So he changed from LCD to plasma?

:D

More details!

No the 40" Sony lcd went to his bedroom, against his wife's wishes I might add. He called me on Monday "to help with internet problems" and there it was, a ps51d450 in his lounge. Now his wife is pi$$ed at me and I'm banned from their home :) Apparently he was so impressed with mine he went out and got him one too. At least his kids are happy as the PS3 games look even better.
