There is dithering etc that makes a WS image appear as normal on a 1024x768 panel..

BUT the panel itself is NOT WS native.... 1024x768 is a 4:3 native aspect ratio resolution. No matter how you try and slice it, its a FACT.

Doesn't change that fact that your 1024x768 panel is not native WS....
 
Hope exactly am I purposefully ignorant on this concept?... if you please.... I'd like to know.

Who cares about knowing whether each scan line has 1280 pixels or 1024? If it looks normal that is the desired effect. You will not see a diff between a 1366x768 panel and one of the same size with 1024x768, running ANY content.

If I'm going to spend thousands on a TV I want to know that it at least meets my requirements.. and a 1024x768 panel doesn't meet my requirements, period.....

That's like saying you require the power chord to be yellow .... but OK then, I require my panels not to say "Sinotec" below the screen :twisted:

I actually require my panels to do a MINIMUM of processing to get the image to display in the correct aspect ratio and correct resolution.

Most of my media content is 1080p, a bit is 720p... very little is below that.

Yeah, shame, those poor little microchip men, wouldn't want to overwork them now ... honestly, 1024x768 panels displays everything absolutely perfectly, to the point where you will not be able to pass a double-blind (scuse the pun) test on two sets sitting side-by-side.
 
I swear, I'm not baiting... But there's significant reflection with darker pictures (the mede8er pic). And not sure if it's due to camera shake, long exposure, etc, but there's some motion blur in that sport :D

Lol. :D I can assure you there is no motion blur on either SS or SSHD. I set my DSLR to no flash so probably longer exposure/shake. Next time I will use my tripod... :rolleyes: :D

Yes there is reflection as most if not all plasmas' plasma cells are between glass. I can assure you though it is much worse in the picture. Also consider that it was around 13:00 so the sun was blaring down. Next time I will close the curtains... :rolleyes: :D

On paper, perhaps. But in use, it has no impact. I guess you watch your TV through your manual/specs sheet? I assume you are a "buga meena". As long as it is fancy, then it must be better, even if a lower spec/price model does the same thing or better?

Actually no..

I just prefer the item that will be doing processing on my images to be somewhat under my control.... AKA my HTPC... I would rather my panel not have to do any processing on the image to display it on the screen.

AKA.. my HTPC outputs a 1920x1080 stream.... it does all the scaling and processing for me.
