LCD and Plasma Bargains

Mostly tennis, but also connect to my PC for games and HD series and HD movies

Ouch. For tennis, any LCD less than 100Hz will suffer with motion blur. The EX400 series is 50/60Hz.

You should definitely look at EX500 series or Samsung 6 Series, they both have 100Hz which improves motion.

Or of course, the wisest option would be plasma.

Tennis is absolutely mind blowing on my 42" plasma. :)

That's exactly what I was trying to say earlier, but everyone ignored me. And you could get a 50" or bigger plasma for the price of a much smaller 100Hz LCD

Edit: I've been ignoring plasma for some time, figured it was dead, but they've been quietly making improvements. The technology is REALLY good at the moment, definitely worth considering.

Expect a post from Dolby/B.O.F.H/sn3rd (specifically) telling you TV/sport will be better on a 32/40" 5 Series 50Hz LCD!

LCD is only good for cell phones, and PC monitors. Or watching sport from a 100 feet - then it looks pretty smooth. :D :whistle:

No... that would be your ploy..

We compare Set to Set.. and yes at R6000 the plasma will be better for sport, but it will be a lower res, or not even a proper WS resolution.

Of course it would be WS resolution. And the lower res is irrelevant since there is no 1080p sport in SA. Besides the fact that HD vs FHD is not noticeable from viewing distance of 2.5-3m!

I suggest you get your Google on, or would you like me to do that for you?

Then why do I have black bars on the sides when I set the TV to 4:3?

Resolution is irrelevant here. Aspect ratio is maintained via rectangular pixels. This is a fact whether you like it or not.

Plasmas are wide screen TVs.

If you don't accept this, then you're being purposefully ignorant. :(

You like talking out of your arse, right? Seriously, dude, you know NOTHING about the subject. FFS go look at a 42" HD Ready TV and without quoting numbers explain just what the hell is wrong with the image.

Rectangular pixels. They maintain the 16:9 aspect ratio.

It's HD Ready because it's a wide screen TV (B.O.F.H ;)). Minimum of 720 vertical lines in wide screen ratio.

You are like a plasma evangelist, what makes it worst is you don't actually have a cooking clue on what you are talking about... HD ready actually doesn't mean a minimum of 720 lines on the y axis, it actually means a TV that is capable of displaying an HD source, secondly 1024x768 is not a widescreen format it is a standard 4:3 format from the wonder years, rectangular pixels also do not give you a widescreen image, they take each pixel and actually bloat them out, making your image look as if everyone has gained about 10 kilograms, making them unnaturally chubby. Gaming on that must be horrible and so must HD movies of any sort, really get yourself a proper HD TV one where you know it is a minimum of 1366x720 resolution or even 1280 as long as it is a proper widescreen TV.

No boet, you just showed that you know absolutely nothing about the subject .... So when the engineers at Panasonic, Samsung, LG etc built all these 1024x768 screens with a physical aspect ratio of 16:9, they just slipped up a bit and for years never realized their mistake. The TV scales any input you provide it perfectly to the aspect ratio you want it in. ... and when it comes to Anamorphic Widescreen content, the data is actually stored in 4:3 pixel ratio with the intention that each pixel should be stretched sideways when viewed. An anamorphic lens actually captures a 16:9 view field onto a 4:3 film/sensor.
