I'm not happy with the S801 CPU mixed with QHD display, nice looking phone though, those bezels are super thin, but I guess thats what comes with the lack of Dust and Water Resistance.
I'll give it a miss. Bring on the Galaxy Note 4.![]()
He's talking about the Qualcomm S4 chipset, not the Galaxy S4.
I'm curious as to why? Samsung has put the same res screen with 1.9Ghz Cortex before. I have a 2.3Ghz tablet with the same screen and it is butter smooth. The G3 is even faster so I don't see what the issue is? imaginary? Early reviews say its super smooth.
There's a reason why I left Android tablets, they tend to lag, even the very latest Note10.1 2014 I find less consistent in performance than Android smartphones, so I'm worried about the same WRT the G3.
Over time and updates I just see that QHD weighing down the G3's S801. Yes, early reviews will say the performance is good, after all the phones are just days old, what about in 3months time when the honeymoon is over, I've got a bunch of apps and games installed to take advantage of the QHD display, filled up the internal and external mem with my series, Music, pics and vids, I feel like it may begin to slow down a bit.
The 13MP camera sensor is the same Sony Exmor RS IMX135 used in last years Galaxy S4 Exynos Octa and LG G2:

This is a really nice looking phone. It has some excellent features and the design is classy. It doesn't even look all THAT big considering the screen dimensions. Even the window on the case has some cool ideas in there. LG stepped their game up with this one.
This. It's an older SOC with more processing power required for the display, never mind the older camera used too. It's a great looking phone though, and I'm sure the display must look gorgeous!
But I'm gonna wait for the Note 4 too.
Older in comparison to? It's the latest current SoC. 805 has not even been launched as yet.

The only issue is that it's pushing double the pixels for the same processing power of any other phone using the same chipset. I don't see how that won't impact the performance, thermals and battery life negatively. Marques Brownlee picked up on a quirk where it dimmed the backlight to 90% or lower if the heat ramped up.
The 805 is available to OEM's, but it's unfortunate to see that the G3 didn't make use of it. The 805 also supports 4K HEVC decoding natively, and a better graphics processor, which would have made sense for the QHD display.
