LG G4

Most annoying, isn't it? Make sure your phone details have been captured by LG online, grab your proof of purchase and head for the nearest LG repair centre.

I emailed them now to get the phone details online.
and I have the proof of purchase at home.

my serial number is 506 not 505 though. Fiance's one is also 506...

Just got the bootloop issue now on my G4, 508 serial number. Anybody dealt with this repair with Telkom? and how long does it generally take?

Do what everyone else has -
Register your phone with LG SA.
Go to Smartlab with your warranty and proof of purchase.
Done.

Do I not have to take it into Telkom to get it assessed by them, as the phone is on contract with them? Set up an account recently with LG need to check if the device is registered. Thanks for Smartlab details, appreciate it :)

Also what would be my proof of purchase since this was an upgrade? Just get an invoice from Telkom?

Not necessary to go via Telkom anymore as this is LG's responsibility - and Smartlab are the official LG agents.

Awesome thanks, I see they are in Umhlanga gonna have to take a drive there tomorrow. Also what would proof of payment be with a phone on contract? (it was an upgrade) Proof of the contract? sorry for the 21Qs first time this has ever happened with me.

Yes, what I did was take the box and all contract documentation I had. However, I would recommend you phone Smartlab tomorrow and ask what they require.

Apparently my bootloop can be fixed and CellC replaced the motherboard. I had no idea that in this day and age it can be so simple. Though that a repair like that will be uneconomical.

That's not really a repair per say just a part swop out, the motherboard is pretty much the guts of the phone, they seem to give you a new handset only if there's no stock of motherboards available in the country.

Turns out Smartlab no longer has a Durban office :( oh well its with Telkom now, repair can take up to 3 weeks

Hey guys.

Apologies if this question has been asked and answered in the many pages prior but is the screen image retention issue a valid reason for a warranty fix/replacement?

I'm on my second G4 (after my first one bootlooped within 2 months of getting it from Takealot) and the image retention problem has popped up and is starting to get worse (it affects the status bar icons and progressed to the nav bar icons as well).

Thanks!

Also noticed this on mine. Does not bother me much though. I think its a valid reason to take it in if it is getting worse...

Hey guys I seem to have lost my proof of purchase during a recent move can MTN reprint one for me.
