Yes, they're by far the largest users of power in this country.... prob in the region of 35% if iol is to be believed.

I was just thinking that although the government accepted part of the blame for the electricity crisis, it is also because of their failures in other areas like crime, which led to the demand on the network to grow so rapidly.

How much power would we have saved if there was no need for electric fences, alarms, cctv etc. ?

public transport too - how much power is consumed with unnecessary roads and fuel stations?

What about huge hospitals that no one wants to go to, so we have so many private hospitals?

I think we can pull one "waste" out of our hats for every "problem" caused by the guavamint.

Yeah true, never thought of that. Most of the lights they talk about are probably outdoor security lights as well. The city centres have been abandoned for massive shopping centres because its unsafe to shop in the CBD etc.

Pandor says Government is making vast funds available for the education of children at all levels.
