Load Shedding - the all in one thread

PowerAlert and eskom site showed RED (no shedding) however, we got an email from ESKOM stating using is dangerously high.
I've got eskom and poweralert and the RSS feed, and seldomly do they have the same info on. Guess the power failures are affecting the updating or synchronising.
But that we are being lied to - thats for sure.
That we arent given correct (or detailed) info - that we've realised.

The only happy person would be a Eskom CEO, or a formite on crack!

All Eskom managers should have their houses fitted with a special device that automatically load sheds them whenever anyone else in the country is being load shedded. :D

May as well just remove the power cables.
:D

We had 4 power cuts between 5:30am and 6pm. So yes, it is bulls#it.

Geez, you guys up North are suffering! Stellenbosch was cut once yesterday for 2 hours and not today yet :p

But seriously, you have my sympathies.

Not just us - I believe the Peninsula did not even have cell and landline services at one stage.

(Off topic) Here's something interesting I just read from IOL.co.za

"Customer usage - Some 36 percent of all Eskom power is consumed by the country's mining houses, which account for about 0,1 percent of Eskom customers. Domestic users, who make up 96 percent of the customer base, consume 12,2 percent of the electricity produced."

If households account for only 12,2 per cent and all households cut usage by 25% (a tall ask), that only adds 3% back to Eskom for their reserve capacity. We're doomed !!!!!!!!

Its back in the red for me...

But since I no longer believe that poweralert site, it makes no difference.
Until Eskom release real-time concrete numbers, I will no longer believe what they are saying.

So at the moment the power usage is in the GREEN. Want to tell me the Mines, etc uses THAT much power when active??
