Logik 47 vs Sinotec 47

When chatting with him , it sounded like he was definitely a more senior manager as he went on about how they are only a small part of a huge company. He even invited me to go check out their manufacture process. So I guess from your post that you have confidence that my issue will be resolved? I for one surely hope so. I will definitely ask about the scaler.

Let's replace 'confidence' with 'hope', shall we? They're quite a pleasant bunch to deal with over in Midrand. I just sincerely hope their product hasn't deteriorated to the point where their positive attitude counts for naught. :(

Well , got the call and I must say I am impressed so far. They will be delivering a new unit to my house and collecting the old unit tomorrow. Hopefully third time lucky. This does speak well for their customer service , and in the long run is that not what one wants , peace of mind?

I am very interested to hear the results of this, I'm going to be getting myself a display this weekend, and for me to even consider checking out the Sinotec, I want to know what the replacement unit they bring you is like. Ghosting / backlight bleeding etc. Keep us informed. :D

Just keep in mind - LCD = bleeding; I've yet to see one without some minor bleeding in the corners, regardless of brand...

For sure, however, the bleeding he demonstrated with an image a few pages back was pretty excessive :(

i've seen it, but not with my sino tv though - I might be lucky, i don't know...

I picked it up from makro, got it home, installed it, and it worked. easy as that.

i didn't even check in the store like a lot of others did.....

you guys really wanna know why I like sinotec so much?
well, 1st - i have huge respect for PC monitors.....LCD's.
I had an ASUS 22" (which i regarded as a good brand back then, before the new samsung PC-LCD's)

The asus, when viewed from the sides, changed the colors of the display, drastically.... you can watch movies on it at any angle except for a dead on centre "in the middle view"

the sinotec, doesn't change to warpy "pastel" colors from side angles

the asus, had bleeding - hated this!

the sinotec, has NO bleeding (except for the newer models it seems, I dunno what happened)

so for me, if a TV can perform better on a PC than a "gaming make", "made for PC" LCD screen, you have a good thing going. ;)

Samsung support is absolutely shocking... I have a thread on here about their home theatre....

I concur!

In Short

................. a Samsung product and @ DionWired...........

Not so short after all. Canceled. I will complete the post and create a new thread relating the experience.

Well , phoned this morning and when asking about the scaler. I was met with quite a bit of resistance (for obvious reasons). It seems that their plasma units has the above mentioned scaler (farouja) in but he could not confirm that. Interesting fact was that according to him LG has the best plasma sales in SA at the moment and second is Samsung , at which he stated they do not have the capacity to compete with these big brands on that segment. I read that LG is actually abandoning their plasma manufacturing , oh well.Apparently their mother company is working in close conjunction with Nvidia on the scaling technology , which sounds promising (or it might have been just sales BS). I'm awaiting delivery and will post results soon.

What does your "Manufatured by .." sticker say on the back , would be interesting to see if we can trace a timeline when they switched technology. Maybe if we can get some more guys to post their manufacture dates/lot nr's we can corrolate and find out exactly which manufacture date is the best to buy :) I can already see the confusion on Makro salesmen's faces "No I want the older model please..." lol

lol! that would be funny

i'll check tonight, and report back :o
(if it's on the back of the TV, i don't have the box anymore)

Ok so now they don't have stock in their warehouse , so I have to wait until the end of this month for the "new batch" to arrive from China. tsk tsk

he must be lying, i mean, how can they NOT have ANY stock in their freaken warehouse?

pfft... tell him you'll pass, and get a sony/sammy plasma, even if it is a bit more

i mean, this is just wasting time - he tells you he will deliver a new one but he has no idea that their entire warehouse is empty? c'mon!!!

I'm suspecting that they opened a new box , did the test and realized "Oh **** we DO have a problem with this batch". I am a bit peeved , but they assured me they will send me one from the "new batch" that is arriving end of this month. Let's hope the components/scaler/panel aren't even worse than this "bad batch".

lol, it's gonna take 2 weeks to weld that sinotec plastic cover over that KURO they ordered :D :D

LOL. That would be customer service :)

In that case, I am going to give the Sino a skip, going to checkout the Philips 42PFL7403 and a 47" Hisense this afternoon, going to take my ps3 in with some hd content to see which one appeals to me more.

Any comments on either of these sets?

wow...this thread is gonna be the the nail in the coffin to any Sinotec sceptics out there :p.....

Yeah, i've been a fan but i don't know any more.... bleeding is a definite no-no.

don't know too much about those brands but imo, philips >>>>> hisense

all i CAN however say, is that taking along some discs & ps3 is the best thing you can do

ALSO, ALSO let them display it with SD content as well, if you ARE going to watch TV on it - don't just check out FullHD quality!!

And if i may add, don't stand in front of the TV, stand about the same distance you going to be sitting at home.

The set will be pretty close to me in most scenarios, probably +- 2m, I also intend to occasionally use it as a PC monitor which means 1-1.5m, which is why FullHD is important to me. It will be used for 40% ps3 streaming content, 40% ps3 gaming, 20% standard tv, and possibly the odd blueray. 47 might actually be too big for my purposes in any case.
