Hi Guys :)

Recently our telephone line has been stolen several times and telkom decided to stop replacing it and supply each house with a 3G alternative :( NO ADSL :'(...anyway a family relative has a house close by who was not affected and I want to know if it is possible to use a possible 10mb/a line and wifi over long range to access internet??

It would need to very secure and from one house to the other....is it possible? The distance between the houses are 200-300m...help

Certainly. Both Poytning and Miro have long range antennas that will meet your needs. I once did one over 3.5km and it works to this day

You attach it to the antenna output of the routers in both instances.

You can get software that helps with the aiming. You do need to have uninterrupted line of sight, no trees, etc

Linksys with custom firmware those routers have a massive range when you replace the stock firmware.

I personally use the Nanobeam myself its worth the money.

Thanks Guys for the replies, What would i use if line of sight is interrupted?

I had no idea Telkom can decide to stop replacing a telephone line :wtf:
