Does this thing ever work? :/

It seems to be sorted for days - then nothing for days and days ...

I only use it occasionally and this month I have a full 5115MB available because everytime I use it, it's dead

I have to say the same thing here in Fourways. It was fine for a while, but it's started going slow again in the last few days.

CellC have told me that they need more towers in this area, but that doesn't explain why performance picks up again at times.

I'd really enjoy a consistent network (and no, not consistently bad).

Hello Cell-C? My connection is still as much of a nightmare as it has been for over a month now. Others in my area have reported as much too! I can't get through to your call centre again, although I was assured I'd be contacted within 10 days of the above reference number. I'm so sick of having the internet work fine early in the morning and then getting dial-up speeds by the time I'm home in the evening...

I've learned my lesson. In S.A. only post-pay and hold onto your cash until the supplier can actually meet their end of the contract. Why do simple things have to be so difficult and ****ty in the country?

Hey I have a strange problem with my Cell C modem (28 mbs one)
I stay connected for about more or less 40 minutes then I would get disconnected and it shows that I have no signal.
When I try to connect again it says that modem or hardware failure? but it hasn't happend before.
I have to replug in the usb to get connection again.
Any suggestions please?

Good Day

are you connecting it directly to your PC ?
try uninstall it from your pc, then reinstall using a deferent usb port.

Regards
~AM~

I'm spending huge amounts on other means. I'm organising ADSL too.

Cell C was great for 4 months - but the last two are unreal.

BTW - all my stats (Randpark Ridge) are earlier in the thread

Hi, It is so disappointed to let you know that the service with Cell C is very bad, (infact i would say WORST). I baught the speed stick, which is cntiniously giving me trouble. I dont get te seed that thye offered and also, the speed is not constant even if you are in the network coverag area. You get supprt neither fom their store nor from the call centre

you wont get proper response from the technical support, youwill only recieve a mail saying that

Good day
Thank you for your e-mail
Please note that your query has been sent to the technical department

THATS ALL NOTING AFTER THA

Cell C had the audacity to call me during work today and ask me to rate their service... How about calling and letting my know when my internet's gonna work better than dial-up?

@CellC
As of this morning, I can connect to the network but my router is constantly being assigned an IP but no default gateway, so my traffic is going nowhere. This is after router reboots, modem resets, and several reconnects. I have tried the speedstick on my PC and router with the same results. I am in Kempton Park.

Called me too, and related the call to a performance issue I mentioned on the forum a while ago.

I've never had VC, MTN or Telkom ask me about their service, and frankly that shows what they feel about their customers.

At least CellC are asking.

No 3G/internet connection on RBM since last night. Everything else works fine. Internet also works fine when roaming on Vodacom.

Well, it least the upload is not too bad :

so its been over 5 days since the Cell C rep reported my problem for me. and guess what!!! NOTHING!!!

ok i'm lying, i have seen an improvement in my ping which is down to an average of 49 to 79 which is good. however my down and upload speeds are still under 1 Mbps. down is averaging at 0.78 Mbps and my up average is 0.12 Mbps. RSSI is still around the -87 mark. this was done with 10 consecutive tests to the same LOCAL server, and another 10 tests to a different LOCAL server.

i'm going to be buying one of these http://www.dbg.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=32_35&products_id=95 today (not sure why the link is not showing, just copy and paste to browser) and will see if i get any more luck. customers shouldn't need to buy "add on" extras if they are covered by the 3g signal but maybe Cell C has shares in these antenna manufacturers. if this doesn't work i will be contacting Cell C for a refund for the balance of my data and be moving over to Vodacom which i have tested at home with, wait for it, NO PROBLEMS!!!
the last time i spoke to Cell C customer care they told me maybe i don't have signal in my area. why then was i able to download at a constant 10 and upload at a constant 2 the weekend before? and before that had no issues?

anyways i'll be installing the antenna this weekend and will post my results with some before and after speed tests to see if it actually works.

I agree with you in terms of having to pay for extra's, I've installed an external antenna which did improve things somewhat as at least I can now get a signal indoors which was virtually impossible before that. However I seldom get over 2Mbps down (occasionally 3) and probably average .15 up. This morning very slow.

CellC have apparently had techs in the area and have indicated that I have a problem due to the terrain (stuck on the down side of a hill that blocks the signal), a new tower has come online which was supposed to have helped alleviate the problem but no luck with that either. This has been going on since January!

Have to all intents and purposes given up with CellC and am not expecting things to improve. My next steps now are to bide my time and see what else the market comes up with, although the 8ta deal looks like a good option right now but who knows what July will bring.

i have received yet another pm from the cell c rep. all i can say is................................

I have had a total Cell C failure about 500m north of Wanderers Cricket Stadium (three different devices).

Details have been sent to Cell_C and e-mailed as well.

Is this just the usual month-end rush, or something different ?
