So I hadn't given much thought to my adsl speed at my new place, <Rant about order process and length>, because when they activated it Telkom synced me at 4mbps.
I did some quick googling and checked my attainable rate from a calculator but there was something I sort of missed:
I'm on ADSL2+

This is from my router:

Now, I'm not trying to be greedy or anything because i know 20mbps is trial but loads of people seem to be on 10mbps.
After looking through threads it doesn't seem like 10mbps is a separate "service" from the 4mb.
Is this correct or do you have to pay more for 10mbps?

Either way how do I go about acquiring moar internets?

Howdy

To get a 10meg service you need to check if your exchange is 10meg capable. Unfortunately it seems as if the site that you visit to see if your exchange is 10meg capable is off line at the moment.

You can always call 10215 and ask them if you can get up to 10meg.

Then also there is no cost difference between the 4 and 10meg services as the ISP package that comes with them is the same it is just the ADSL speed that is higher.

Have you called Telkom yet? a Few days after my exchange was upgraded to support 10mb/s, I just gave them a call, and they upped me from 4>10mb/s in 5minutes. Yes - 5 minutes. Fastest service I ever received from Telkom.

Also, there's no price difference between 4mb/s and 10mb/s.

Hope that helps ;)

Been phoning Telkom for years trying to get a random disconnect problem fixed. Phone, log call, tomorrow SMS says it's fixed, get home, dc, phone again.... So the cycle goes on and on..
They just don't give a rats..
Roll on fibre and another provider-telkom won't see my butt for dust...

hmm your upstream shows it can sync higher but your downstream not.

normally on 10mps exchange sync is 4095/507 , what i got as sync speed when my dslam was upgraded, before it i had 4096/512, so you could be on 10mbs exchange just give them a phone call.
