Received my kit yesterday morning. Sim isn't active yet. Hoping it doesn't take long- that red light is a soul destroyer

Really Telkom on hold for 1:30 yes one and a half hours and still no one available to help me register my sim.

Dear valued customer my frikken ass !!!!

Edit: So after waiting for 1:40 yes 1 hour 40 min spoke to Nomzamo who confirmed my sim is not activated
will esculate for a manual activation should be done in about 4 hours time.

Lets see i am not very confident it will happen.

So the order was placed on the 24 Dec that makes it 19 days and still not connected. First class service Telkom !!!!

I placed my order on the 18 Dec last year. My router was only.delivered this morning. Hope activation doesnt take that long too.

Applied in December 21,
22 December - received sms on the saying debit order wil go through 3 days later.
07 January - phoned 10210 was put through, held for 45 minutes. Gnobile ansewered said they had problems with router stock. We would receive tracking number "Today or tomorrow" i.e. that day or the next. Told to phone 10213 in the future
11 January - phoned 10213 held 55 minutes for answer, spoke to Fikile. She said "system changed upfront debit order no longer done. Send equipment directly and then bill at end of month". Will send Waybill number "this afternoon". Of course no waybill number.
12 January - phoned 10213 held 53 minutes. Spoke to Fikile Said " The reason your delivery is delayed is because you do not have a ticket number. Felt a bit salty and wanted to argue - Argued a bit saying it was their ticket number not mine. Said I would have to do the online application again. Whilst on the phone launched another online application and got a new ticket number. Gave it Fikile. Waybill number will follow soon.

Eish, I think I need to go lie down.

Drop them a tweet with your sim number (ICCID number or something, which is on the sim card), your ID number and contact number. That helped me

I had tried that and the chat function on their website.

Any way at about 6pm last night i get a phone call from Nomzamo to apologize for not having me active in the 4 hours she promised due to a technical glitch. She sais it should be good to go this morning. Wake up to the dreaded red light restart the router for about the 100th time since i received it. Wow a nice teal colored light active at last woooohoooo!!!

Any way i have to Say thank you to Nomzamo she is the first Telkom employee that bothered to keep me in the loop and follow up with me.

That is with the bunny ear antenna i will test with external antenna and update later.

I've never had any joy from the people on the chat thing. But glad you're up and running!

Signed up last Thursday - courier called today - delivered. 1 x b315 1 x poyting antenna 1 x sim - not yet rica'd.

Popped in another telkom sim card and loaded bundle.

Now to wait for RICA but look great so far.

Moved to a new place last weekend, placed my online order earlier this afternoon.

New place falls outside the coverage area (+- 1.5km) but well within normal LTE area. I applied online using a random address inside the official coverage area, from reading all the posts it looks like that is the correct way to apply and then stating your correct address during the rest of the process.

Seems as though the B315 supports all 4 LTE networks in SA. Just the external Ponyting may not....

That's correct. Telkom probably getting a nice deal on every external antenna. Average price on the antenna when I last checked roughly about R1200

My speeds still drop around 10Mbps when I connect the antenna, maybe my pole isn't high enough considering the tower is on a tall building and im in the ditch with clear LOS, seems like my antenna is beaming directly into the middle of the building.

Weird thing is, I get on the top of my roof with the router and bunny ears connected, speeds drop too.

It's like the spot the router is on now, ontop of my fidge, gets the best speeds...in a house...double brick wall...in a corner
