Luis Suarez is a piece of ****!

And if that little boy maliciously threw a rock through a window? Would you still hold him in such high regard even after he received a smack on the hand from his mom?

And an offside goal is only worse in your opinion! In mine it is something that is missed by the assistant, and merely human error. In this instance everyone knows what happened but there was no punishment to suit the crime!

Same logic could be applie to criminals... A murderer kills people for fun - to satisfy their own needs, yet his punishment is jail for 20 years... is that a suitable punishment? That sounds to me like holiday for the next 20 years, free food, accomandation.

In this instance the punishment is Red card, banned for next match and Penalty to the opposing team. Penalties are generally regarded as a freebie goal in Football... why do you think the world and it's mother of all supporters cheer when their team is awarded a penalty?

Oh fsuk, I am not sure I can continue arguing with people who cannot comprehend English.
What fsking part of "no punishment to suit the crime" did you miss? Oh wait, I know, it was the part that said "to suit the crime!" Please, please, please I beg of you, put a little inkling of thought into the post you are reading and typing before you respond. I did not say there was no punishment with a FULL STOP after it!

Wow.

Anyway, it doesn't fit the crime in your opinion. A penalty is very fitting. If you can't capitalize on a penalty (AND HIT THE CROSSBAR) you don't deserve to
play on this level. He was too bad a player to net the ball. And then they got an equal chance at the penalty shootouts and lost out.
Just admit it. Overall Uruguay is a better team. Ghana dominates them with physical power but with penalty prowess Uruguay dominates overall.

About the boy, that boy had an entire country behind him and it was instinct. KEEP THE BALL OUT. Yeah, Suarez is a cunning *******.
But really, if we look at the stats, who deserves to go through?

Are you even a soccer fan? I have stated I am not an "ardent devotee" myself and even I know that the reason they cheer is because usually the ball was nowhere near entering the net when the penalty is given! Getting a spot kick puts them in a vastly superior position to the position they were in when the penalty was given!

And if penalties are such a certainty to score can you perhaps let me in on the reason that it was then added as a means by which to break a deadlock and why I, personally, have never seen penalties reach 20 a piece? And in fact they very rarely reach double figures.

Suarez is obviously a coke-head just like his hero Maradonna.

Ghana had more shots, more shots on goal, less off sides calls, more possession.... and you feel Uruguay deserved to win?

More shots doesn't say anything. Some of those shots were terrible Uru had 50% on target (see my link), scored from a free kick, had more corners, Ghana missed the only penalty of the match, Ghana lost 4 - 2 on penalties. The difference in possession
is too little to consider.

Nope, no bias from you. All based on pure stats...

Here's a breakdown of where those shots on goal came from

I only included the most important aspects. All the offsides really indicate is that Uruguay was a bit too eager to score. However, if you feel I was biased, enlighten me.
What I said, against....

Um..Lancelot..Without me sounding like a douche, I was refering to the penalty kick by Gyan at the end of extra time. If you place it low, 99% chance it will be on target, keeper actually has a 33.3% chance of saving it, because he could just stand his ground. Kick it with enough power and he will fumble it. Now you have a second chance to finish it. Not one Ghana player rushed the box after Gyan kicked. He went for glory...and didnt use his brain!

Penalties are all about percentages. Abreu (who took Uruguay's final penalty) had been watching Kingston's (Ghana's keeper) trigger movements. Abreu has played in every major league in the world, he has an amazing football brain. Kingston normally takes a major step off the line with one foot, then he lauches himself to the opposite side of the foot he stepped up with. When Abreu ran up, he was watching Kingston all the time. Kingston stepped forward with his left foot..And where did he dive??? to the Right!!..If you have PVR, watch Abreu's foot. He trails it behind the ball, giving him a second longer, and then flicks it into the net.

If logic can prevail...The keeper always steps out, narrowing the angle. Which means you are now aiming for a spot just beneath the crossbar, with a ball that is known to fly high??? Granted that when the keeper steps forward he also narrows the angle to the posts, but there is no deviation to the angle to the ground!!! As I have said in another post, shooting for the top half of the goal brings more success, but a greater risk...Its just the balance of this risk that makes a great penalty taker.

Those that think he was not cheating are dishonest. The rules of the game allow for only goalkeepers to handle the ball, and then only if it is inside the box area and has not come off the foot of a team mate in the form of a pass to him. Therefor the handling of the ball by other players is cheating. He could have tried to header the ball away but knowing that he would not reach the ball in a fair way he deliberately broke the rule to insure a no goal. That is unequivocally cheating. Seams to be a part of South American football, remember Maradonna? Cheating is cheating gents, and if the Uruguayans had any honor, they would condemn these actions and the player strongly.

Then you should just call all players who handle the ball cheats...

So if someone in your family gets murdered. Will you also say that's just part of life.

He said "it's just part of the Game"

You must be a pretty violent dude to bring murder into it

It's not added as a means to break the deadlock.

It's like why does RUGBY have penalty kicks? just so they can score a 3 point from anywhere the players can kick the ball? Why give penalty kicks? Why should the other team forfiet 3 points when a try and conversation would give you the game...

Um, that is right. What part of the rule is confusing to you. Only goalkeepers are permitted to handle the ball in open play and then only under certain conditions. Ergo all non-goalkeepers who handle the ball during open play, as apposed to dead ball situations are cheating. Of course situations like ball to hand are not included.

But the rules of football have a punishment for what he did..The ref is the judge, there is no jury. He was convicted, sent off. Just reperation was paid to the other team, penalty awarded. Its finish, klaar. And now he will serve his sentence, two match ban.

But, wait a minute, we have had two players kick the opposition. Nothing has been said about that. Granted that players sign consent forms in the case of ABH being committed to eachother. But I know that kicking another player is NOT in that consent form. That Nigerian and the Brazilian last night should both, in essence be charged with ABH. But...that would leave a bad taste in FIFA's mouth.......

So strange to see people defend his actions :/

I feel like I'm on another world ;)
