Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

OK, bought the Sony 37" HD ready screen. Picture Looks good and I view from about 1.5 - 2 metres. Plugged into SD PVR, no sound system attached. Question The SD PVR does not have an HDMI output, is there some other way I can improve the quality of the picture? (Do I need too?)

They had the 50" Samsung Plasma on display with the blu ray and hdmi feed, superb, superb, superb, superior build quality, finish and picture...and at R11999-00 a relative bargain... The only thing that is holding me back is the 12 month warranty, simply not long enough for my liking and R2k to extend it to 3 years but I may just do that...

ONLY HD ready? Sux even at hat price bru.

You joking? R12k for a 50" plasma?!! Samsung no less!!! Bloody good price old chap!!! HD is only broadcast in 720p in any event and is unlightly to change anytime soon...

As for Blu ray... Bugger it...

I agree fully with Sandmanm34 - Excellent Price!

If you gonna watch TV a lot - THIS is the one to got for - Not the Sinotec FullHD LCD, but the HD Ready Samsung Plasma.

yeah, even WITH DSTv's HD Channels, the 720p Plasma will look better. (cause there is no scaling at all)

Plus it's 8 inches BIGGER too!

Different strokes for different folks. In a few months/years you will regret that you have to upgrade again. I will be patient. But Yeah that was a great deal, wanted to buy one for the bathroom but then realised is only low resolution.

low res? for PC use, yeah - but for TV this will look better than a 1080p screen - much better!

plasma's also don't have the motion problems like LCDs do (yeah, even bravia's have it) and the color is better too.

low res my ass - like sandman said it - "HD is only broadcast in 720p in any event and is unlikely to change anytime soon..."

+1 ?
I feed my DSTV through my DVD/HDD Recorder and from there split the video to my TV and the sound to my Hi-Fi. All using composite(AV) cables RED WHITE YELLOW.
Will using a HDMI or even SCART cable improve the signal being sent to the TV?

Got to be honest the Sammy was one of the best screens on display at Makro this morning, well for under 20k in any event. I think I'm going to buy it...

A friend of mine got a full HD Samsung 50" professional plasma display for R13750 including delivery. It was the last one WebAntics had. He thinks they made a mistake with the price though. Then again, maybe it is because professional plasma displays aren't taxed as it goes through as computer equipment. The thing looks absolutely awesome in HD. SD stuff doesn't look too bad either.

I find it does but only marginally, could even only be psychological..

I use composite out from my 1110 decoder into my dvd recorder and then component out from the dvd recorder into the tv. Definitely looks better than using composite out from the decoder into the tv.

The 40" normally goes for R13.4k, the 50" closer to R20k so he got the bargain of the century...

EISH. I'm confused now.

Is AV cables composite or component?
I use the WHITE RED YELLOW cables.
I don't use "antenna" cable. Single black cable.

Component video cables are red, blue, green.
"AV" cables are red and white (or black) for left/right audio and yellow for video.

HDMI - carries BOTH image and audio->
Component - Red, Green, Blue - carries ONLY image ->
Composite - Yellow, Red, White - Image on Yellow, and left/right audio on white/red

From best to worst, basically.

Keeper, what did you mean by there's no scaling? Is it because the native resolution of the Samsung is 1366x768, which is higher than the "2nd best HD", ie: 1280x720.

I also want to get a 50 inch Full HD Plasma. If anyone finds one please post here. TIA.
