Agreed, that's exactly what I've decided to do and I'm going for the 42" LCD at R8k. Would love the 47" LCD but cannot justify the R4k premium for an extra 5 inches...

Also posted on another thread. Question is it possible to use an RGA to HDMI onverter to get 720p HD on an LCD?
Sammy Plasma yeah, 50" for the lounge, 42" LCD in the room..the plasma?
Are those your kids?Okay so I got my 42" Sinotec LCD today, not bad, not blown away by it but perhaps my expectations are too high.
In relation to my 3 year old Pvision Plasma though no comparison, it annihilates the Pvision in every department, brightness, sharpness, contrast, colour etc etc etc Pvision looks positively tired in comparison.
There is however the issue of motion blur. Watched some prerecorded rugby and I think this phenomenon is prevalent on the LCD, it's only 50htz after all and has a response time of 6.5ms. Might just be psychological though as I am looking and expecting motion blur. Not sure if what I'm experiencing is motion blur or not. SD feed is pretty weak too...

It has vga yes. Haven't had time to connect my laptop to it but at 1920 x 1080 I would imagine the images to be superb... My HP also has HDMI out so... Happy days...Can anybody tell me what inputs it has? I know it has 2x HDMI, but what about VGA?
What I don't understand is when I set the laptop output resolution to 1920 x 1080 the displayed image is too big for the 42" screen... 1600 x 1200 fits perfectly...

Thanks, will check, don't recall seeing any such option though, bear in the mind the 47" menu and 42" menu are different...I have the same "problem" on my 47" Sinotech. Check in the Sinotech LCD menus for an option that says "Overscan" and enable that. Then 1920 x 1080 should fit perfectly.
Thanks. Actually 50Hz is pretty much par, thought it was 60Hz and apparently there is a noticebale difference between 50Hz and 60Hz. 100Hz and up is sweet, very sweet. Going back to Makro to get the Samsung 50" Plasma, also 50Hz for R12k but they also have a 42" Plasma on special, 100Hz for R9.5k... Not sure which one to get, will decide once I'm there I guess..Sweet setup you got there. I can't believe that the Sinotech only has a 50Hz refresh rate. That's pretty weak. It should be around 120.
