Alright. I'm sure someone here with a Frontosa account can hook you up with a WD TV/Compro.

Hello guys. I am planning on getting this one soon as I have enough points to order it.
Mede8er MED450X2 (WiFi)
I have seen the WD ones at places like Dions Wired etc...but never this brand. Is it good? It is a bit more expensive compared to the Pioneer Blu-ray player that supports HDD via usb. Is it worht it? Is it a good player? Sorry...this will be my first media player...so I am a bit of a noob when it comes to these things.
^^ Mede8er is very popular, both locally and internationally. And it's locally manufactured. The problem is their lack of support. Firmware updates are barely existent, and when a new model is released then you can forget about support for your model.
I'm very happy with my WD TV Live (has built-in wifi as well), plays everything and integrates well with my network. The Gallery feature also automatically separates your different content into Videos, Pictures and Music, so there's no need to navigate through multiple folders to get to where you want. They also release firmware updates fairly regularly. Got mine from Takealot: http://www.takealot.com/tv-audio-vi...streaming-media-player-no-hard-drive,10832354
Yeah it's definitely not a crap brand, so it should do the job. Enjoy your new toy1080p upscaling will probably be the same regardless of what you use, but a dedicated media player will play more filetypes and codecs.
