Media Player Advice Wanted

Anyone know of a media player that downloads cover art/movie..series details from the net automaticlly (similar to plex)

Welll, I have supplied the Noontec A3 to several people. Can take up to a 3Tb hard disc and plays everything. Small and neat looking and under R 800 for the unit. Has HDMI, analogue and digital audio, component video, USB in and out

Mede8er. That is all.

I would've said that awhile ago, but with the lack of support from them, no thanks. They get a new device and it's all gun ho on that till they release something else. Or they don't release the promised accessories etc..

Hello guys. I am planning on getting this one soon as I have enough points to order it.

Mede8er MED450X2 (WiFi)

I have seen the WD ones at places like Dions Wired etc...but never this brand. Is it good? It is a bit more expensive compared to the Pioneer Blu-ray player that supports HDD via usb. Is it worht it? Is it a good player? Sorry...this will be my first media player...so I am a bit of a noob when it comes to these things.

^^ Mede8er is very popular, both locally and internationally. And it's locally manufactured. The problem is their lack of support. Firmware updates are barely existent, and when a new model is released then you can forget about support for your model.

I'm very happy with my WD TV Live (has built-in wifi as well), plays everything and integrates well with my network. The Gallery feature also automatically separates your different content into Videos, Pictures and Music, so there's no need to navigate through multiple folders to get to where you want. They also release firmware updates fairly regularly. Got mine from Takealot: http://www.takealot.com/tv-audio-vi...streaming-media-player-no-hard-drive,10832354

Ok...see..thing is that the only media players available to order using my points are the Mede8er ones. I was just worried that it is perhaps a crap brand and they will bomb out after a few months or something. Seems this is not the case. I am not too fussed with firmware upgrades...as long as it works nicely then its cool.

I am assuming the 1080p upscaling will be better on dedicated media players compared to the Pioneer Blu-ray disc player also so it is better to rather just get the Mede8er?

Yeah it's definitely not a crap brand, so it should do the job. Enjoy your new toy :) 1080p upscaling will probably be the same regardless of what you use, but a dedicated media player will play more filetypes and codecs.

Tnx...will do. Seems its a dutch brand. thats cool....will be supporting my roots lol.

Just need another 600 or so points bofore I can order it. urg

+1 - WD TV Live

Had all mentioned here plus the Xtreamer models

The latest WD TV Live beats them all in price, usability and plain awesomeness - visit their website and see what I mean

Esquire have them for R999

Just figured out I am able to cover the shortfall of points for the Mede8er with credit card! Just ordered it and should have it next week sometime I hope. Yay...46" Sony standing on landing waiting for tv stand to be delivered Saturday...then my media player and I am ready to rocknroll!!!!! :D

Cool! My Mede8er 450x2 just got delivered!

Took me hours last night in putting all my movie files into folders with cover art for it to read and display. Then also sorted movies according to genre.
