Microsoft to Kill Pirated Windows XP Professional

Well i sed to agree with that but seeing windows 7 compared vista, vista is damn slow and so is xp compared.

Windows 7 in all honesty has blown my mind in terms of speed and i remember someone saying its slower than xp without having tried it (points at peter :p.

Yea as long as they update and make punkbuster work in the beta release you would not need the final release hehe. How is it rough around the edges aqua?

I am used t vista been using since it was released and i am using windows 7 7048 what is rough around the edge? it is blazingly fast and everything works. What am i missing?

Sure. It would be naive to assume no one can make money without windows as an operating system. The secret to good web development is browser independence.

The secret to good software development is yet to come and that should be OS independent, like JAVA, but a little more stable and faster.

Currently JAVA is pathetic, complicated and expensive when developing on an application level for windows.

In this day an age one has to constantly consider alternative new technologies as they are released. Currently Linux is beneath even MAC OS X for me as an alternative to going forward.

It has its place and its place currently does not perform as well as Windows when compared to my needs.

You obviously don't have a Celeron with 512MB RAM...
 
Have you run windows xp with a celeron and 512 meg ram, omw it ain't fun. how does ubuntu run with such slow hardware?

I would upgrade the memory even for windows xp.
 
No i would just like to know how low end hardware runs on any new OS. I would imagine when you buy a celeron you do not expect it to blaze windows or linux, it will work at a snails pace yes :).

I know we have a celeron 1.8ghz with 1gb of memory for invoicing and it runs xp kuk slow :) but at the end of the day i would never in my life load vista on it :), still must try windows 7 on it and see :p should be blazing fast hehe.

True... but many of the laptops being sold shortly after the release of vista WERE celerons with 512MB ram. And microsoft FORCED you to use VISTA even though it was almost unusable with those specs (because vista came preloaded with the laptop instead of XP).

How do you do it with your car? Are you buying a Polo 1.6 and steal the GTI engine and built it in? No.
Windows Vista/7 and Games are these days a luxury part. If you cant afford them, your problem. Buy what you can afford, and that is Xp Pro, if you cant even afford that, go play under a tree with your water pistol. R10 at shoprite:D

Your the naive one thinking that expensive products do will get pirated just as much.

Think about a nike shirt at edgars that sells for 350 bucks, flippin expensive right? you can buy a replica for 90 bucks, now had nike sold that same shirt for 100 bucks they would have had a sale.

Its basic logic that the more you charge the less you sell. The packaging does not cost more, the whole OS is there and the key determines what you get. So by selling ultimate for 3x as much they are making a fortune while ripping everyone off. How does someone not get that?

Im sorry, a R100 tshirt from nike is never the same quality as an original nike shirt. Here again, buy what you can afford. If you can afford the R350 shirt, good, if not, your problem.

Just for your sake. Microsoft targets corperate comapnies and big businesses. They dont care about the average Tom, as they anyway dont have the money. Thats peanuts for them.

Microsoft has sold more than 180 million copies of vista, largely on the back of a strong overall PC market, but retail sales have significantly trailed those of XP in its early days and Vista has received a number of critical reviews. Do the maths, Microsoft will loose out if they reduce the price.

Btw, You will be surprised to know that the top pirated software on the Internet includes anti-virus programs followed by AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop.
 
Dude i hate it when people go on about cars vs software, FFS the entire software program is on the disk and your cd key determines what you get.

So using your car example, it is like buying a polo with 2.0! engine but they enter a code into the car and it downgrade's the engine to a 1.4!, you then go get some software that hacks the polo and makes the polo a 2.0!.

Now maybe you will understand better the difference between stealing a 40k engine and getting what you should be getting.

Actually an expensive nike shirt is not better quality than a knock off, your a prime example of why cloting companies can rip people off, you think more expensive means better quality. Just because something is expensive does not mean its better quality alot of the time it just means your getting ripped off.
