Microsoft to Kill Pirated Windows XP Professional

It is a tweaked vista, it looks and works the same in my opinion but it has a few new features and runs 4x faster :p

They have the platform which is vista, now they have tweaked the kuk out of vista and made windows 7.

The nice thing about windows 7 is it makes use of vista drivers so you have no driver isssue's or very few that i know of.

Saying windows 7 is way different to vista is pushing it alot as windows 7 works and looks almost identically to vista.

Few changes like speed and putting 2 windows together and what not but the heart of windows 7 is vista that is super fast.

I love windows 7 and if it is priced within my 1.2k budget for the full package i will pay for it, should it cost 2.5k again i will pirate it.

WTF am I always debating stuff revolving around Windows 7, its not like me:eek::D

Just because an operating system looks similar doesn't mean it is the same. Talking about platforms I hear what you are saying, however in fact they have had the actual platform around for ages. It is in fact built on NT (same as 2000, 2003, XP, Vista etc) kernel (gosh that is getting old now)

Sure it has been updated and improved. Agreed on the drivers, as you said and quite correctly a lot of drivers will work. Fortunately Microsoft have not changed the driver platform again. (Thank goodness)

Looks very similar to Windows Vista, agreed however functions there are significant differences between the two operating systems. Windows 7 is much faster than Vista, but it also has a lot of bugs, new improvements over Vista.

Visa was more of a beta of Windows 7 than anything else. Remember Windows Vista probably cost more to develop than Windows 7 because Vista's development was reset once. When they changed its code from Windows XP to Server 2003.

Windows 7 will be an excellent operating system. Far better than Vista.

Yet the biggest microsoft fanboys are those who pirate it... the irony.

What have i pirated?

I own my copy of windows xp home.
I own my copy of windows vista home edition, i use vista ultimate because i feel i have paid for vista i should be able to get vista and not this crappy run down version they gave me.
I will buy windows 7 even if i buy the cheaper one and pirate the the most expensive.

So in a sense i am a pirate but i have cd keys for both xp and vista.

When xp came home edition was not that much different from xp pro, when vista came out home edition is so different compared to the ultimate that home would not even run corel draw.

So now tell me aqua having paid for both OS's how am i a pirate and what is the irony other than i believe microsoft are ripping us all off with ultimate? I fully believe in licensed windows software as it lasts a long time, i do not however agree with being ripped off by microsoft. home and pro editions of windows 7 would be fine just like windows xp. Not 10 different flavors at different prices.

Lino i get the feeling you think i do not love windows 7, i absolutely flippin love it man, it is vista on steroids :). All i am saying is did not cost nearly as much as vista to develop so it should not be that costly this time round. I love vista but now they have taken my love for vista and incorporated into windows 7 with a huge speed adjustment and some amazing new stuff :). Windows 7 is by far the bestest OS ever made by microsoft.

I agree, but according to Microsoft's license agreement you're still a pirate.

Well yes according to them but within myself i feel i am not. I do not really care what microsoft think, i know when i am being ripped off and i know that when i use vista and xp that i have a cd key and did infact pay for it, i also know within myself i did not let the microsoft machine rip me off. So while microsoft may think what they like i feel better about myself knowing in a way i paid for vista :p and i own windows xp fully :).

I will do the same with windows 7 if need be. Microsoft know this but they know there are many people who will buy ultimate so i say fine let those people get ripped off. Also do not think because i am windows fan i am a microsoft fan.

Well I've never paid for a copy of windows yet, I had a genuine XP CD with CD key which I installed and activated and then I had to upgrade but the activation failed and ever since then I never felt the need to buy Windows.. If I pay for an OS I should be able to install it as many times as I like...
I might buy 7 though but the basic version.

I use linux though so this WGA does not bother me.

WGA does not bother people with legit copies of xp, it's the linux okes who and piraters who go on about wga.

Never understood what the problem is if you own a legit copy.

LOL you're running a pirated Ultimate...
like I said WGA does not bother me, I can afford a legit copy of windows but I dont use it often my XP is a legit copy but I never botherd to activate it legally again, a crack is much quicker than having to phone MS for a new key.

If the prices were to come down it will help to sell more ligit copies of windows.
When i sell a pc and offer windows to the people, when they hear the prices of it (and i sell it at cost price with a system), the responce is almost always the same - "uhh i got a cousin/friend that can put that on for me."

:D

I have a legit copy of XP and have a serious problem with WGA. The is no reason for MS to have any sort of dial home built into the OS and thats exactly what WGA does. It connects to MS over the internet and posts certain information. Not acceptible, IMO.

Yup this is my point :), vista pricing is really high, atleast 800 bucks for xp home sounds decent, now you hear 2.5k for ultimate you think damn!! I am not running a pirated vista ultimate, i was before and it was a laptop version so it never use wga and i did not need a crack for it, it just works flawlessly :).

I am not running it anymore i am running windows 7 now :). So no i don't have a pirated windows, my other hdd has windows xp running my games :). As soon as windows 7 sorts punkbuster out windows 7 will be main OS :), hopefully with good pricing it will be legit as well.

Maybe because more times than not piracy has nothing to do with the price. Even if Win 7 ultimate came in at R399 there would still be pirates for whatever reason. People pirate games you can buy for R199 so price is not always the issue.

A game lasts a week. An OS lasts years. I would be happy to pay R399 for Windows XP Professional. And I bet many others would.

lol what made you change your mind? not long ago you said you'll stick to Vista, 7 is exactly the same. :D

I do enjoy 7 too which is why I'll buy the basic version. It should be able to run most games which is all I need it for.

Microsoft's mistake was diluting their product range, and releasing an OS that required modern hardware and had trouble performing on older hardware.

Vista SP1 is pretty stable and fast and vs Windows XP SP3 far superior with less crashes and more stability.

Microsoft should sell 1 OS and not a dilution of the one OS geared for seperate target markets. 1 OS at 1 competitive price and they will carry on annoying linux fan boys for a while still.

The speed at which corel and photoshop operate, seems almost 2-3 times faster than vista. I would go as far as to say when loading up windows 7 and opening corel and photoshop they open 3-4 times faster, they open instantly almost, never seen anything like this speed before, vista and xp about the same but windows 7 is blazing :)

Also i can do away with my second monitor because i put windows side by side now which is awesome.

I just said its exactly like vista and it is but it so much faster and got alot of cool features i had no yet seen :p
