Mind the speed ISP

Just called MTS now and the lady I spoke to mentioned that they not having any price increases this year. Hope this is true.
 
time is fast approaching i have to cancel and pick a new isp. still not sure who i should go for.
Might have to move in june if my rent goes up too much so that might lead to a cancellation then (or maybe just transfer to new apartment). Afrihost charges R999 cancellation before 6months
 
I've been with MTS for just over three months now, after migrating from Cool Ideas. So far, all good. My impression is that latencies are a little bit longer on MTS than they were on CI, but reliability is much, much better. Streaming on Showmax has been fine - identical to what it was like on CI.
 
It seems Latency issues while gaming is of the past.
Back to 166ms while playing POE. Was 230ms when the were fiber issues
Friend who is with WebSquad told me his is also back.
 
Anyone else experiencing slow browsing? Prime and Netflix all working as usual.
 
Well, CoolIdeas have been on notice since middle last month, March being the official one month notice.
Line and FTU serial numbers have been submitted to MTS weeks ago.

My fibre provider is Frogfoot and must admit, they are useless with customer communication.

Interesting observation. Our DSTV Now is often freezing/buffering, where the past year was faultless. Coincidence much?
Netflix, no issues. Raw interest browsing, no issues.

Anyway, I am voting with my wallet, even if it is a R35.00/month saving, hopefully with the same quality....
 
We almost ended signed up with CI because of popular praise. And then I started reading the threads around here! Signed up with MTS 2 months ago and we're still loving it. Using our service for 99% streaming (50/50 Vumatel trench) and our usage is between 25 - 35Gb per day. No issues whatsover.
 
I unplugged my router, this morning was unable to connect properly but when I plugged it back. My speed was doubled.

Been with them since Feb and also had no issues apart from a youtube issue at the end of Feb which they had already noted on their status page (was fixed very quickly). They also added the speed upgrade from 20 to 40 initially and then up to 50 about a week or two later - I'm going to miss it when the revert.

Their usage tracking is a bit odd (and slow) but other than that everything has been peachy! Also their free modem/router is also a lot better than what I got from my previous ISP, I was considering an upgrade but the Zyxel is sufficient for my needs.
 
Very happy with MTS since Feb. Im on a 50Mb line and we hit over 1Tb usage a month a few times already.
 
Thanks for the feedback. So my main use is to connect to a server in the EU and USA and Ps4 online gaming. I have both Openserve and Metro. Any recommendations? I heard that OS throttles?
