More Free ADSL data from Telkom?

I can't wait to see if Telkom really delivers on 1st of June...
 
THey'll most likely only double packages [1GB -> 2GB , 3GB -> 6GB , 5GB -> 10GB] . Which implies they'll merely match the R25 p/GB pricing that other ISPs -already offer- . So even if they do that, i still don't see why we'll want to flock to Telkom ISP all of a sudden.

People are starting themselves blind against the uncapped stuff, all other ISPs are offering perfectly CHEAP capped offerings.

Ja, I was also hoping for some action before then. They certainly are taking their time over this. :mad:

I've also been telling people to hold, that it is coming soon. :(
 
They are taking so long like as if they are not suffering any losses with the offers being launched by competitors:confused:
 
I wish the ISP's would split local and international traffic even on uncapped accounts, and give full line speed, with no shaping on local traffic and llimit international based on the speed of the account you have selected.
It would save them money cause we all know international is more than national traffic, and it would make for happier users, i would move most of my traffic locally if this were the case, and it would prob. save them a lot of bucks each month based on the amount of traffic i do internationally.
Lets hope telkom can do something like this, they have been good with giving 'free' local data.
 
Telkom 10GB-15GB-20GB

Hi All

You can get the 10GB 15GB 20GB accounts activated right now already dial 0800500200,
but 10GB costs R530 - 15GB costs R785 - 20GB costs R1014, call Telkom if you don't believe me.
Everyone may think Telkom is going to upgrade their 1GB to 10GB, 3GB to 15GB, and 5GB to 20GB,
but the 10GB 15GB 20GB accounts are totally different accounts with Telkom not free upgrades.
I have 384KB uncapped with Imagine R199/month and I've had good service already,
1-18 April 2010 total Gigs 25.6GB

So they're sticking to a rather overpriced R40 p/GB . Is Telkom living under a rock? You can get bandwidth for as low as R19 p/GB .

Is that unshaped / unthrottled / un-anything bandwidth ? Why would anyone pay that ?

Yes Telkom is under a rock of Monopoly just like Comcast in America:mad:
 
It was 1999 and I was really getting into the internet thing. I opted for a Telkom deal without hesitation, and always paid my bills and treated them with respect. They however have specialised in insulting, over charging, being rude to me and placing me on hold for hours and hours.

I don't care what Telkom puts on the table. If there are alternatives, I don't use Telkom. Full stop.
 
I hope they do this. I can't change because of the contract penalties.

Start telling them to jump ship.:p Uncapped offerings are month to month. Once Telkom gets in line with other ISP's, we can think of going back...:)

That is a risky comment... They might offer uncapped at R99 per month...:whistle: (Ok!!! I know!!!! That will NEVER happen!)

I still have my 1gig telkom account AND MWEB uncapped. The telkom monopoly has me on a contract for at least the next six months.:mad: I drain that account in the first day of the month and then use MWEB for the rest of the month.:D I do notice a HUGE difference in the speed between the 1gig account and the MWEB uncapped. :cry:

I wish they would bring out the new speeds already!!:twisted:
(Hoping my 384 line will be upgraded automatically to 512...)

Telkom has never ever been pro-active in the ADSL arena.

They only respond when they see their cashflow is getting less and then throw a bigger bone to the SA consumer, who they see as an annoyance and a "thing" that must be squeezed to the max.

*Sorry, I wanted to say something nice about this, but when I think of Telkom, I just get very upset and angry. :(

This is not a very bright idea is it? Say you get bumped to 10Mbps, what will your 5GB cap be worth. Even if you are on 384, 5GB can be blown in a bit more than 2 days?
The speed updates are on the cards, but without proper data caps your speed is useless
