MTN Market share declines

I don't believe this. They completely forgot to mention MTN's pathetic, crappy, almost non-existant customer service and support, absolutely terrible accounts/billing and porting departments AND systems, and a call-center which sounds worse then a fish market during peak trade.

This is the REAL reason why MTN has lost so many subscribers.

EDIT: Oh and don't forget the MTN 15th birthday fiasco, and the recent data billing fiasco which saw people receive 10K bills when they should have gotten bills closer to R400-R500.

As an MTN shareholder and customer, I am totally digusted at this company.

Ported from MTN to Vodacom two days ago thanks to their s***** billing systems and overwhelmed customer services department. I can forgive teething problems as they transition from one billing system to the next, but the disaster that's been dragging on for over a year is unforgivable.

+1. I ported to VC on monday and will never go back.

I think its a case of being too involved elsewhere to develop their product here at home sufficiently hence they simply lost track. i wonder how their corp structure looks, as now would be a good time for someone new to come in and save the day so to speak and get a nice rep from it too for turning it around :P

If ONLY ...
... MTN would LISTEN to their customers!!! But maybe that's asking a bit much from da leedasjip mit da cultja to first filla da own pockats.

Yip. I wouldn't be thrilled about our other cell companies, but mtn are not hot these days ;/

The only thing that really bothers me about MTN is their billing system. I got a few shocks in the past, but I am wiser now

I recently had my phone blocked. First I tried to go to the MTN shop, with no luck, according to their information the phone should have been working, then I tried calling the callcenter for 3 days, adding up to more than 3 hours on hold. Finally on the 4th day a service agent answered, unfortunately she just put me on hold again.

I returned to the store and demanded that they look into it, they finally phone some number and 5 minutes later the phone was working...
I cant wait for my contract to end, I was about to just cancel it on the spot, but decided not to give them money for service I have not yet received.

Sorry to inform you, but MTN's decline isn't due to poor customer service, wacked billing or disgusting tv-adds,

the only reason is RICA.

Oh really?? That's what they want you to believe. Sure RICA has had an effect on subscriber GROWTH. GROWTH has slowed down. But an 11% DECLINE. That is completely different. All the other operators still achieved POSITIVE subscriber growth, although it was not as good as previous years. MTN is the only company achieving NEGATIVE growth, also more commonly known as dying in biological terms.
