MTN Speed Test Results

what are the coverage for the 3.6mbps and 7.2mbps?? what is the website?

JUst saw this on speedtest.net
4028 kb/s download
676 kb/s upload - in Jhb at 09:38 last night. This someone at the MTN office maybe? No way you getting this over the air in Jhb anywhere. AM I wrong?

Download Speed: 1965 kbps (245.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 338 kbps (42.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

IS this possible in SA?
I did speed test 3 times this morning

Download was 13946 kbps, 20222 kbps, 25845 kbps respectively. That meter went completely off the scale!
 
OK, just now got 60784 kbps download. This IS definitely not possible.

E220 speed tests



I have moved to MTN because they claim speeds up to 3.6Mbs - i have also updated my e220 modem to 7.2Mbs. I am achieving download speeds in the region of 512kbs (after the upgrade) - before the upgrade speeds were higher.

either way speeds not near what i expected.

Same here, updated the firmware and the dashboard with the telkom software (the easiest to find) and I get the same speeds as you. Testing in bryanston area.
 


EDIT: That was directly from my Omnia now and I must admit it's been a pleasure to surf the web with the phone.
Gave it a bash after hitting some balls at the driving range yesterday and while my brother was driving around I had perfect 3G coverage from Wynberg, through Ottery and into Strandfontein, where it sometimes changed to Edge, but was still fast.
Have not bothered tethering the phone to my PC yet.
DSL dies the end of this month and then I'm a wireless boy :p
New territory for me, but initially I am pleasantly suprised :D

I'm looking forward to see how quickly next weeks episode of Bleach will come down :p
