Well, I've been gaming while throttled (MW3 - Xbox Live) and the latency seems to be ok. Definitely not what I was used to with a Telkom line, but I was expecting lagging through walls and jumping across the screen, however none of that is happening. It's pretty smooth local, even better than the international games with my old telkom line. I just had a couple games now, which should be the high congestion time and the game play was good.
Can anyone tell me if a 3G Antenna will improve the latency? I read on another forum that there will be less latency if the signal strength is increased over the "noise". Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Correct, but once it is well above floor level, latency doesn't improve anymore. HSPA+ connection brings also latency down (comparing to HDSPA) due to the network protocol improvements.Can anyone tell me if a 3G Antenna will improve the latency? Contract started on the 1st. Its been working fine since. Just need to get external aerial for router. Using the sim in laptop with modem. Downloaded 10gigs already and I hav been throttled from 3gigs. Speed isnt what it should be but its probably cause of the service area.

if u have a modem (dongle) i used a 5m usb cable and sticked it to my window it helped alot of th signal!
Got my Uncapped Lite today
Exremely good speeds and latency. 2Mbit/s and about 150ms to 400ms latency + it was raining a lot outside.
Some of those throttled speeds that you guys posted look really good. Don't know what all the fuss is about.
I guess I will see once I go over my 3GB.

Got my package this evening. Was collected on my behalf. First of all. They sent me the B660 instead of the B683 router. And they didn't Rica my number. All the hype and excitement and i couldn't even use it :banghead: should i make a stink about the router? Also. Looking at the box and pamphlets it looks kinda second hand. Should there be any cables/antenna inside the box. Apart from the unit.charger and stand?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone know how to check how much data you've used with the sharelink routers? The traffic counters get reset each time you reboot and *141# gives a balance of 0.

Maybe the signal? Or maybe you are already throttled... lol
Just to make sure that you are really getting 0.17 Mbps go to youtube and try to watch a youtube video. Iv'e noticed that the swiching between WCDMA and HSPA+ sometimes takes between 1 and 2 seconds.
Watch your dashboard to see if it keeps switching between the two. When the connection is idle it stays at WCDMA and as soon as you download it takes a while to switch to HSPA+
To try and keep your connection on HSPA+ there must be data flowing all the time. So try to keep pinging a site in the background.
Open up command prompt and type the following:
ping google.co.za -t -l 2
Minimize the window and check if it stays on HSPA+ on the dashboard.
Edit: Oops, It seems that the ping method doesn't help. Mine randomly goes from WCDMA to HSPA+ and back no matter if data is flowing constantly or not?

Got the B683 package for R329 earlier this week. I got this mainly for World Of Warcraft. Game wouldn't patch so I decided to download the client (10GB) from Blizzard. Download sucked with that since the start, but the rest has been smooth in my opinion. Facebook, youtube (low res vids) all load no problem, even after throttle so I can't complain, good deal still for R329 / month, have used about 10Gb so far. My coverage is in Centurion in case anyone here is looking at getting this package, and here's my speedtest img. Thanks for all the info on this forum; helped me decide to take this.

I am not impressed so far. Speeds are much worse than what i got with my Vodacom contract. A two minute YouTube video takes almost ten minutes to fully buffer :thumbdown:
That sucks, mine loads faster than realtime.

Maybe you can get somebody from MTN to test your reception.
i think this speed is bad that you are getting. I did a signal test yesterday at home because im also thinking of getting the mtn uncapped lite. I got 4 bars on HSDPA. Speedtest i get 1Mbit/s. Is your setup set to RAS(Modem) or NDIS?
