MTN Uncapped Lite for R299

So Friday their 10 working days were up.
I get a call telling me that there was a problem and it was fixed.
Tried the MTN again Sunday evening and last night, same outcome.

Spend 20 minutes on the phone, whilst they cannot find my reference number on their system, and nothing got resolved.
Are there any MTN reps on this site?

After really slow speeds last weekend, my throttled speed has been quite constant this week.

Mtn light uncapped internet package for R299

Hi,

does anyone have more info on the t's & c's for the Mtn light uncapped internet package for R299 (24 month) and does Vodacom have anything that competes? My plan is to use between 5 and 15 Gb per month, but I can only access Mtn and Vodacom due to coverage issues. Thanks!

Vodacom doesn't have anything that can compete with MTN uncapped lite, no. In fact with regards to the sheer amount one is capable of downloading on uncapped lite, no other 3g service competes.

With that said, being throttled to 256kbps is awful. :-)

You don't have iBurst or Amobia Coverage in your area do you? if you live just outside joburg, pretoria or CPT amobia should be the best solution

How much can you actually achieve to download using MTN light uncapped. Rough estimate even if you leave it on 24/7. I remember back during dial up days Friday Evening - Sunday evening you can possible achieve 2 gig. I would say roughly around 30- 40 gig highly doubt it's possible. I am sure there is always T&C,AUP, ToS etc to go with it and if u abuse trouble.

Well do the math, you will be throttled at 30kB and my speeds nearly always reach that except if there is some fault with the system like we all had a while back. You should be looking at around 2gb a day or more.
Just make sure you have FULL reception.

That's max your connection out without doing any browsing. I feel for u dude but if it's possible then it's a good deal.

My capped speeds have been so lousy the last couple of weeks browsing is basically impossible until after eleven at night. This is really pathetic

Help please - how do you check you balance on these accounts?

If you say balance, do you mean how to check how much bandwidth you used? If so, you need to phone MTN. As far as I know that's the only way to check your bandwidth on the Uncapped Lite contract. Yes, it sucks.

Damn thats sad! To be honest, i kinda expected that.

Sigh!

Why would you want to check the balance on a uncapped account

Because after using 3Gb, the line is basically throttled. I would like to know when i reach that 3Gb, or if the crap speeds i am getting is because of poor signal or because the throttling has started.

Throttle speed

Hello I'm new to MTN uncapped I'm planning to get it for my downloads and ps3. °? have the 8ta 10GIG and that does not last me a half a month and M???? download speed is 10MBps and upload is 4MBps and °? just need uncapped. The 128Kbps THROTTLE has changed to 1MB or lower and that's FIN to me and the price is R299 that's fine so can anyone give me advice to get MTN uncapped?

The 128Kbps THROTTLE has changed to 1MB or lower ...

Since when has the 128k throttle been lifted to 1Mb ? Where did you read that the thottle got lifted to 1Mb ? I've been on uncapped lite now for almost 18 months now. If ttrue that throttle was lifted to 1mB then the Uncapped Lite is even more of a bargain.

MTN

MTN told me and and M???? friend has 2 uncapped mtn one mini router and a usb modem
