Let me pay for only the channels I want, so that the monthly sub can be cheaper please. Anyone in agreement?

:erm:

Not really a new thing. I've been part of DSTV's e-mail panel for over a year now. In fact, I've had access to a few new trial channels as a result of my participation in this panel.

Likewise... but I am starting to get the impression every second Joe is on this 'legendary' panel?

Fail, their monopoly is.

Too true! :(

last reply. There are none operating yet. But 3 have licenses (I'm excluding WOW* as we're talking operators). On Digital Media (ODM) are planning to launch next year. ESat (Sister company to etv) have decided against becoming an operator, so they launched E News (24 hour news channel).

The last is Telkom Media. However Telkom sold their stake to a Chinese company because they didn't feel it was commercially viable to invest the R7 billion needed to do it properly. The chinese company have not released when they plan to launch.

*WOW is a christian broadcasting channel.

They don't have a good chance of getting far off the ground. DSTV has refused to share their decoders, so everyone will have to buy a new one. Another symptom of a monopoly market and p*ss poor regulation.
