MultiChoice creates DStv subscriber panel

I was invited to be part of the email panel so I'm gonna make sure the right things get heard!

Any specific points you would like me to mention?

I was also invited, and already provided my feedback. Supply EPG data for use in HTPC's

dstv does not listen to what subscribers want not do they care.

It is good, pity Monochoice don't actually listen. I have been free of them for the past year and have over 6k as a holiday bonus instead. Worth far more to me.
Yep 6k is a lot to pay, especially for old shows. You could easily source the newest content online anyway. The only channels that I did find interesting were informational channels (Discovery, BBC Knowledge, History and Nat Geo) which I'm willing to sacrifice to save 6k - they've turned to crap lately anyway, being dominated by a bunch of reality shows.

+1 on choosing channels at a reasonable price though

Yah i think being able to choose the channels you wanna watch will be the main starting point. Even if its not per individual channel, they can at least provide them in packages, eg sports package, movies package, music package etc and you can then subscribe to the packages you are likely to watch. I mean right now i'm payin for all channels I've never really watched any music or cartoons channels!

This is not new really, but the chick who's taken over this stuff needs some attention or trying to get her bosses attention so she's publicising it as much as she can.

Quite a routine survey. Same questions as usual.

I'm now a member of this panel - filled in the survery last night. I just hope that I get the opportunity to contribute in a big way.

I filled in that survey and let them know, that i would jump ship the instant ODM was available.
I also told them that compact was not an alternative.
Finally in that little "Why would you leave DSTV white box", i said that an increase in subs would lead to an instant termination of my subscription.
There, i did my bit for competiton.

Give it up Multichoice don't give a sh*t.

For me personally, I don't mind Multichoice's monopoly. All the stuff I want to watch is on DSTV. The subscription is a bit steep but I certainly won't be cancelling. I love my SD PVR most of all. It would be a nightmare situation if another operator licensed some of my favourite shows. I already despise SABS for licensing Heroes, Las Vegas (and the now cancelled Jericho) because we have to wait so long for it to be screened. I hate SABC2 most of all because they didn't screen Stargate SG1 after Season 2. Although DSTV picked it up several years later, the episodes were never synced with Stargate Atlantis.

They will give a damn when people start jumping ship.
Sport isn't an issue for me since the only sport i watch is world cups of any kind and ISIDINGO[I apologise];)

When ODM finally get there heads out of the sand and launch,
i will move quicker then diarrhea.:D

Firstly - why not start a dedicated forum where ALL your subscribers have a voice!
Secondly - I want to pay for the channels I actually watch!
Thirdly - The endless repeats and cross channel fertilization that is constantly going on..

Now if SABC or ETV could come up with a halfway decent combo between the 'documentary' channels (Most of it is repeated or then just resurrected in another channel anyways..) I'm outta here.
Sport can be watched on a Saturday at the pub or a mate's house. (PS - It's not that great in any event..)

Trust me ODM will be a bigger let down than Neotel. Multichoice have licensed all the good content from the US Studios/Networks for several years in advance.

I will give ODM the benefit of the doubt.
The SCI-FI channel slipped through the cracks at multichoice and willing to bet there are many more excellent channels available to choose from.

I'm yet to see any of this content :)

Are you for real?

Supernatural, Prison Break, 24, All the CSI's, Criminal Minds, House, Lost, Burn Notice, Stargate SG1 & SGA, My Name is Earl, Dirty Sexy Money, Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, Californication, Fringe, Life, Boston Legal, Brothers & Sisters, Entourage, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Without a Trace, etc.

And that's the just the shows I like. There's a whole bunch of other shows, movies, and loads of sport.

People expect to get DSTV for 200 bucks. It's unrealistic. If you compare internationally, unlike broadband access we are not being ripped off.

The clincher is the PVR, it's an awesome bit of kit.

Actually there aren't. What you have to remember is Satellite operators (like Multichoice) license content to broadbast on the channels they create. Have you seen Sony Entertainment (SET)? Theoratically, it should broadcast a lot of good content but since Multichoice has licensed all the content for Africa, they can only show the old stuff.

I'm sorry but your assessment is "unrealistic".
Most of us do not want al the B#S channels that are being put in a nice 'lube' "bouquet" for us.
