MWEB 10 Mbps uncapped ADSL: Consumer pricing revealed

Quite expensive. I'll stick to 4mbps thanks. (although I'm glad it's out there)
 
whahaha who's gonna pay that much.. should be priced exactly the same as 4mbps cos u not gonna get more out of it in any event
 
Yep - the thing about 10Mbps (and this is especially true for South Africa) is that there's a greater probability that you'll be bottlenecked by peering congestion or even the server's upload speed - the only time 10Mbps really shines some edge over 4Mbps is for stuff like video streaming and p2p (even then, with the type of shaping ISP's do these days, you do the math on value over a 4Mbps line - it's exactly those services that they shape to sub 512k speeds on 4Mbps, so how much more do you expect on 10Mbps?). The price margin is too large... with this in mind, then unless Mweb has a completely separate bandwidth pool and the value ratio of shaped bandwidth is greater for their 10Mbps products, then Rip-Off, I'm afraid.
But the best price out there so far AFAIK, so it's a step in the right direction by Mweb again

LOL. Network is completely screwed since the backbone "upgrade", and I can't even browse/download at 4mb, but you want me to pay 2 grand for 10? Pull the other one.
 
I cant see this doing well firstly because only few people have 10mb then you get the people who cant fully sync at 10mb so for people who say sync with only 6mb should i have to pay 2k for 10mb when i wont even see that speed???:erm:
 
Thats insane! Can we atleast get a pricecut on 4mb uncapped & unshaped? I'll rather have an unshapped 4mb line than a 10mb shapped!

Is the flaming really necessary? They dont have contracts, if your unhappy switch to different ISP, or phone them and sort it out. I just uploaded 200mb+ of videos to youtube and photos to flickr at what im pretty sure was the max speed of my 4mbps line.

I dont think the price is fair for 10mbps, but they have to do what makes business sense, if its too high and no1 uses it then so be it. They will have to adapt and improve to stay competitive.

Cant hurt to have extra options, you dont have to use them.

I understand your point but he has every right to such posts and I do not think that is considered "flaming". His experience is not pleasant so he is not getting his money's worth hence he must say what ever he wants. He is the consumer.

I also I am enjoying my Mweb and haven't had any problems what so-ever. Either way, we should not just ignore such offerings because we *regular consumers cannot afford it. We need to express our opinions and ideals, we need to be HEARD until these companies reflect their prices based on consumer interest rather than for pure 'business sense'.

Mweb has more than enough money to manage such services. They are attached to DStv and Naspers...that's all I have to say.

What crackhead at Mweb thinks people are going to pay that?
I can get over 200k on my 4mb how in gods name are they going to offer stable 10mb anyway?

Why not take your 10mb and stick it you know where?
 
Lol. Mweb 4Meg down this morning. Surfing on my cell phone now with mtn... How can mweb release 10Meg connections if my 4 meg is this terribly unstable. And I know it's not telcom this time because my router is still detecting all the line details, it just refuses to connect to the isp... :(
 
The problem with MWeb is they still require a debit order.

#1 They DO lock me into a contract - I have to suffer for at least 30 days because of their cancellation period

#2 I understand your experience uploading video was excellent - but note the word erratic, in order for something to progress - it must first be stable (all round) not just for the select few , on certain days - paying close on a 1000 rand a month to play russian roulette is not fun my friend.
 
Even if you got full line speed from your 4meg accounts, why would you pay so much more for 10meg? I would much rather load balance 2x4meg accounts with a mikrotik router, sure its not 100% bonded, but you will still get 8meg on a multithread download (well, if mweb didnt shape you so bad). Either way, this account does not make much sence, only cents for mweb.
