MWEB 10 Mbps uncapped ADSL: Consumer pricing revealed

if i had the cash for it which i dont, i would much rather go for a 4mbps unshaped account, its the same amount.

Ouch, almost 4 times as much $ and you probably won't even see double the speed of 4Mb. Good to see MWEB back to it's normal old rip-off self again. ;)

They also take Credit Card. You just have to Email and ask them to switch I ***BELIEVE.

What I really wish is they need to accept PayPal! Someone at Mweb must agree with me. PayPal is everywhere but Africa but we can change things faster if a company like Mweb/DStv started accepting it as an option! Let's do it please!

why do you want to help PayPal out so much? Mweb is a local company: absolutely no need for PayPal. and probably more expensive for them than local payment options.
 
I dont know how anyone can afford 2grand for an internet account, but if u can, good for u.
The problem is that on my 4mbit mweb acc, i can only attain 4mbit on http downloads (and even then it requires a download manager), for other purposes it barely, if ever, tops 80kB/s without some sort of dodgy shaping bypassing method (day time speeds) - so even if the 10mbit gave 2.5 times the performance of the 4mbit account, itd still not actually be performing at 4mbit speeds.
I think anyone who can afford the 10mbit home account would be better off buying a 4mbit business account
 
Paying R2000 for a shaped account is just plain j@rs and then they expect you to just to surf the net and do emails :wtf:
 
The math don't add up ...

3 X 4mb accounts = R1800 (rounded up) = 12mb
1 X 10mb Account = R1999 .....

no sense here!
 
I'm not sure MWEB is going to be too successful with this offering yet. Most locations I think haven't had their exchanges upgraded, and on top of that, I don't really know who has over a grand to spend on a connection that while fast, is still shaped!

Well, Good Luck tp MWEB anyway!

I also pay via EFT - I also insisted and eventually they agreed.

I agree though - this price is insane! 10Mbps is also not readily available - I can't imagine them getting more than 10 customers for this.

Yea, thats really expensive, however if I had a 10 meg line I probably would have one. As is I have a Openweb gold at 4 mb and can p2p at a average of 380 k.

Expensive but also the fastest fixed line out there.
 
In South Africa you are faced with two choices. Car payment or 10mb uncapped.

Stupid Expensive.

It's more to the point where we CANNOT buy it because of the price.

It's overpriced. Fair would be around R1099, not more than 3x the price of 4mb adsl uncapped.
 
It is obvious that Mweb don't really want people upgrading to this. They are trying to force customers to stick with the lower offerings. To supply the higher offering is only going to strain them even further.... so they put the price out of range and hope they don't get many people signing up.
