MWEB ADSL network changes

The MWEB CEO pointed out that there has also seen significant changes on the Telkom network as Telkom upgrades their network for higher speeds.

Is this having a positive or negative impact on MWeb users? The sentence is left hanging...

No acknowledgement of the problem just sidestepping and spindoctering; crisis ? what crisis ?

I have to wonder what happened to the ASA ruling stating that mweb's uncapped is not uncapped.

the article answers 0 questions. Rudi did a lot of talking without saying anything

So finally we have an answer as to what's causing the erratic speeds lately, network changes..

Funny thing is, everyone who jumped ship on the by now rather epic Mweb Uncapped feedback thread, will probably only have their notice period expire by the time it's all fixed. Then they'll be stuck on some other fake uncapped ISP for more money, oh the irony.

MWEB CEO Rudi Jansen explains that they are continuously working on their network, improving the performance
Not working hard enough Rudi....

pockets of different network classes of traffic that experience problems from time to time
I think he means the whole day....

This really doesn't say jack. Hopefully the higher level techs will take notice now

And in other news, Im still getting 30Kbps or less when downloading without a download manager and browsing is pretty shyte.

LOL rpm, over 1800 posts by forum members about these issues in less than a month, thought your article would have a bit more depth :(

*edit : my mweb account is running fine at the moment, jhb area, dont use it for p2p, but there seem to still be a lot of sad pandas out there,
paying for a 4mb account and never seeing any speeds close to 4mb would also make me sad...

Maybe this the most depth that rpm could get and still get an article out in a reasonable time frame...

Uncle rpm is in a tough spot with this... get the article out and it doesn't answer enough questions, he gets flamed..... Wait to get all the answers from Mweb etc etc, and he gets flamed for not caring about his members...

Quite disappointing from mweb. I like how they blame upgrades and telkom and anything else possible. Why is it that everything seems 2 be so throttled. Sometimes u can't even get good streaming speeds on youtube videos. Sigh a 4mbps line and can even stream properly

I could not stream the Microsoft and EA E3 presentations yesterday without buffering every 2 seconds.

Luckily I already cancelled. This is my last month.

I'm very happy with the article... Its not like rpm has the answers, but what he has effectively done is brought the issue out into the public at last... Hopefully its enough to cause MWEB to start worrying about their bottom-line and actually get around to fixing it.

There are some real-world tests showing the huge differences in performance across the country in this thread.

Agree with StNick on this one..

And what I reckon is happening atm, is they've sorted their routing in preperation for the IPC node in Durban..... but currently it just means that the IPC in Gauteng is a bit stretched currently.... hopefully the new IPC will alleviate some of the issues.

as long as he does a follow up article end of the month or so, all will be forgiven :P
BOFH, not to argue with you, but there are users in JHB having issues, and there are those who arent, on exactly the same legit non p2p stuff.
they have tested with other isp accounts etc to cancel out any telkom related issues

lol @ all the poor suckers who fell for Mweb's lies about this being an "uncapped" product. You deserve what you get.

At least MWEB is finally admitting there is a problem unlike Telkom who will never admit anything is their fault.
