anyone else in the Durban area experiencing slow speeds? i can't even browse Facebook. Took me about 15 mins to get to this page.

Aren't you maybe throttled or whatever MWeb does if you use more than 80GB?

Think you meant 40Gb

As if you don't know :P

This much confusion is disappointing, as is the spreading of misinformation when we should rather be informing consumers with facts.

Fact is Mweb is the same class of scum like OpenWeb

OP move to a proper ISP like Vox or crystal web

You know that is not true, so I'm not even going to respond to it.

I spent close to a year dismantling OpenWeb on this forum as the most vocal opposer of them. Do not tell me that MWEB is in the same class as OpenWeb.

Well the reasons I feel so strong is, #1 they lied extensively about throttling before finally admitting it causing a fck load of grief between me and my clients. - scum lies.

#2 They became the OOB shark of the ADSL world and costs my parents a fck load of money with their scum tendency to profit from cap users. I mean cap ffs.

Hi. Also in KZN. 2 Mbps line syncing at a steady @ 1.273 Mbps, mine is not a throttling issue but sync problem. Issue logged with telkom at the beginning of November still not resolved. MWEB says it's Telkom's problem, Telkom yet to resolve.

They introduced a stricter AUP to curb abuse of their network in order to maintain performance for everyone. Disclosing the exact limits would naturally lead to abuse because the product is not designed for everyone to squeeze out as much as they can. This is without even taking it into account from a business perspective. In any event, the thresholds were soon found out on MyBb by us learned people entrusted by and to advise our clients. Your clients should have upgraded if they weren't happy, or found a new ISP.

I think you're exaggerating here, but there are plenty of options here. You could disable automatic topups which they are clear about. You could give them free 1GB accounts from other ISPs. Or you could pay for the usage they require. Or, vote with your/their wallets and leave.

Nowadays MWEB offers capped data at less than R1 per GB.

Where? Don't count the night data, that's pretty much free data to them as no one uses their lines at those times.
If you count night data, then take Afrihost/Axxess infinite/unshaped, WebAfrica/CrystalWeb the hundreds of GB/couple of TB into account as well.

I will count the night time data. It's great that ISPs are getting people to do their downloading at night.

But let's not count the night time data then for the fact that most people aren't concerned about it. 100GB (+ 100GB) is still cheaper than some other ISPs.

I don't know why you keep assuming I don't take other ISPs into account. Please look at the thread title.

What do you mean? They have throttled uncapped accounts for years. I remember when it all changed.

The market has also adjusted to accept this now.

This. Not as if it's a big secret. Their official AUP on home uncapped 2Mbps is 70GB, but I only experienced throttling at 80GB before switching to uncapped premium. Not that it's really doing much good given my line problems. Will be moving to Afrihost 100 capped bundle from next year.

I have 2mb uncapped premium. The FUP is 200GBS. The Internet is fixed now. Took them about 3 hours to fix it last night.

What does he mean? Are you kidding? I would have thought "They told me upright they Do Not throttle." was pretty self-explanitory but I'll break it down for you further if necessary…
